Although it got decent reviews, sold pretty well, and ended in a big and ominous cliffhanger, There's never been any word on a sequel. Why? There was an infinite amount of awesome things they could have done with a sequel (imagine multiplayer with that amount of destruction), but a sequel has never even been mentioned.

Black was great because it wasn't built around multiplayer. The only real problem with Black was that it took too many hits to kill enemies.

Although if they do make a sequel, they should call it "blacker".

What happened to Black? Call of Duty came in, took it out to the backyard beat it over the head and then blew it's head off with a 12 gauge. Unfortunate for Black but it's true.

Basically CoD decided that it was boss, grabbed Black by the scrote and stabbed it in the neck.

I dunno really it just sorta got forgotten. I never relly liked it though. Maybe it sold well but no-one actually liked it when they got it home

What bugs me is that they CLEARLY intended to make it a franchise, set it up, and never followed through. Nothing has ever even been remotely mentioned about it.

Aren't they making a black sequel but with a different name? I think the term is "spiritual successor" but I am not sure what that game is called.

The creators are making a "spiritual successor" to Black called Bodycount.
It looks pretty generic, but I think it's as close as you'll get to a sequel.

They are, but I just find it odd that a game that ended in sequel bait never continued into a franchise. In gaming, that seems pretty rare.

Oh Black, I remember playing that In front of my grandmother as she asked how come the guy on the tv never misses. It was ok but It's ideas were muddled down In teh shooter aspect, at the same time I remember FEAR and I think one of the Ratchet And Clanks were up as well as a few other games, It just faded into obscurity.

Such a good game. My only regret is I didn't have online capabilities back when that game came out.
The sound design on that game was almost what you would call flawless, it had a great plots and the graphics for back then were about the best you could get on any console.
I think you'll find the developers were happy with the result and didn't feel the need to make a sequel so they then decided to branch out into making generic as hell racing games to make a buck (good for them).

Spiritual successor =/= sequel.

I stand corrected.

Wow.... you aren't kidding when you say "generic".
Jesus... even the main protagonist's name is freaking John Doe.
Wow, what a huge letdown.
I hope it fails due to lack of funding or something.

It's Bodycount. Thus far, it's Black in HD, which is awesome.

Looks like this and Medal of Honor are my two shooters this year.

They made Burnout games instead of a sequel. I really wish they'd make Black Paradise instead. The name sounded better in my head.
