Whatever happened to the 'Light-Gun Shooter' games?

Like Time Crisis (the good ones), Point Blanc, House of the Living Dead... it seems you only find the shitty old 90's versions at the back of the old seedy arcades? With what we have with technology we now I'd have thought we could have so much more fun with it... Not this Kinect/Wii bullshit. Like... Metroid 3... That game. That fucking game. I'm not going to talk about that fucking game.

Yeah, there's not many gun shooters left - but if you have a Wii, you can play Ghost Patrol and House of The Dead 2, which are both excellent.

It's really not the same. There's horrible feedback issues and if you try to speed up you either fly off screen or the Wii lags out...

Outside arcades, I don't think there were ever that many of them to begin with - I know we had the gun peripheral for our Playstation 1, but only a couple of games to play on it and I remember the same being the case with friends who owned the Sega Saturn and gun.
