About time i got a solution so heres the biggie.

I start up Garrysmod it works fine then when i join a server (or play singleplayer) after about a minute i get:

This happens every time without fail on all of my games. My current settings for garrysmod are:

Here are my drivers etc:

If this is happening on all your games, I have to suspect hardware problems. Either your card is overheating or you could be seeing the early stages of hardware failure. Are you able to check the temperature of your card after these problems begin?

It depends, recently the computer hasnt even been giving me warning (see first picture) now it just completely goes off leaving a strange coloured imagine on the monitor, i cant do anything and my computer starts making a strange beeping noise.

I considdered it overheating so i removed the side of my tower to feel the card its self, it doesnt seem overheated.

So this is occurring in all the games you play and only when you play games?. Well that might be a graphics card issue or just the root of a bigger problem that is not showing yet. Apart from check the connections, check core temperature and restart system I don't what else to tell you. Either that or you got a bug in your system.

Edit: Sounds more like an overheating issue to me or a general card fault. Do you have a temperature readout of the core while running?. And is your system overclocked in any way?

Oooh, big no-no. Never touch any component of your computer while it's running. If you've developed a static charge, you could fry your components- and if something is going wrong inside the case, it could fry you! (Or at least give you a nasty zap.)

Try this: While the computer is off (as in completely powered down and unplugged), disconnect your monitor, remove and re-seat the video card, then reconnect everything.

The problem seems to have got worse progressivly over time? Could it possibly be a memory issue?

That can be a tough one to pin down. You'd want to remove and re-seat your RAM (with the same precautions I described for re-seating your graphics card) and see if that doesn't help. If not, you can use the program MemTest86 [http://www.memtest86.com/] to stress-test your memory. You would have to load the program onto a floppy disk or burn it onto a CD/DVD and boot your computer from it to make it work.

Well I can see one thing that looks wrong there ... The game is detecting your hardware as only being DirectX 9+ capable .. It should be showing up as 10 ... not 9+ ... its not recognizing something right ... Are you using Nvidia's driver's or aftermarket ones?

Difficult one to pin down this.

I can tell off the bat that it is not

- Virus or malware, never seen any malware, spyware or virus that would do this and couldn;t even think of a reason why one would want to do something like this.
- It isn't RAM, at least not system RAM, it could be RAM on GPU issues though. System RAM issues do not appear as huge graphical errors they are more often than not typified by BSOD or hard lock ups.

Heating.... hmm the 9600GT is not exactly a power house so cooling it shouldn't really be a problem but to rule it out you can download and install Rivatuner then use the Hardware monitor to see what's happening when the card is stressed.

The thing that is interesting is the comment about it gradually getting worse. The nice thing about electronic devices is that failures occur in a consistent. By that I mean you will notice something strange which will keep happening, it won;t get gradual worse it will just one day get a hell of a lot worse and usually that's the device dead.

Right here and right now I would point the finger at your monitor, if you can test the PC on any other monitor and see what happens. If that doesn't resolve the issue then it's your GPU dying.

Judging by the floating removerts in the sky, it looks like some sort of memory corruption, which could indicate overheating in youre memory though more likely gfx card.

Another thing to try is getting rid of all you're garrysmod addons, or even completely reinstalling the game.

It could also be a bug within gmod itself, there are enough of them already.. and garry seems a bit lazy lately :p

It always detects you're hardware as dx9+ (it does for me at least, and several other people i know). At the moment the source engine doesnt actually use dx10? (correct me if i'm wrong) so i think it sort of ignores it.

The video card stability test is a pretty good test of seeing how hot youre card gets, combined with something like evga precision.

Do you get similar problems in other games? or just gmod?
And how much memory do you have in total? it could still potentially be something to do with gmod and low memory
