whats the best war game

I would like to know what is the best war game kind of like roman wars but better and that is not to big, something that would work on my laptop.

and i seen a game on youtube that had apache helicopters shooting people on the ground, it looked real. does anyone know what game that is.

The game might be Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare in one of the Marine missions. So to clarify, what did the area look like? Desert? City? Etc.?

You should really try out CoD4, it's easily one of the best shooters of all time.

If you want a modern shooter, go with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It gives you a feeling of you actually being there. It looks great and is fun to play as well.

If you want a feeling of being in a past war, go with Call of Duty: World at War. Pretty much the same thing I said about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It just gives me a slightly more realist feeling of being there than Modern Warfare, mainly due to the developers being able to convey what happened in the Pacific Campaign and the march to Berlin.

I wasn't too interested in the single player... It was basically just running from point A to point B on a VERY large map, repeatedly killing all the people at each point with the occasionally different weapon.

The multiplayer wasn't too bad though.

Since no one's thrown an RTS out there: EndWar is good, but don't even try multiplayer. Let's put it this way: If your first CoD match was being gentle, playing multiplayer EndWar would be like being raped by someone covered in sandpaper.

If you're an old-school gamer, a good PC RTS (that isn't CaC) is World War III: Black Gold. It's a (very) near-future game centering around a conflict for oil (the game was made in 2001, hilariously enough) between USA, Russia, and Iraq. It has many unique features, good gameplay, a level editor, and the story can be played from three perspectives.

I don't know about RTS games when it comes to that sort of thing (I prefer sci-fi in that genre), but if you're looking for an actual "wargame" instead of the latest iteration of Team Deathmatch, try out this mod for Battlefield 2 (which you can pick up for $10 now).

I've been playing that since close to when it came out and I'm still struggling to find a better multiplayer FPS. It's got depth, variety, an awesome community, and a growing number of different factions that are represented across it's growing selection of maps (which are on a completely different scale from most games). Now I have to warn people, this game is absolutely brutal in terms of difficulty and learning curve, but once you get used to it there really isn't anything quite like it.

If that's not your thing, try out ARMA, ARMA 2, OFP2 (when it comes out), or any of the original Rainbow Six games.

I'm not really into Wargames, but a lot of my buddies are so anytime we LAN I'll have to storm Omaha Beach at least once.I'd say the Best war Shooter's out there are the first Two Call of Duty's and Battlefield 1942 and it's sequel.
