I'm going out an a limb here but I'm assuming most of you are going to buy modern warfare 2. I am not. I really don't see what's the big attraction in yet another first person shooter which will basically be like all others with one minor difference. What I'm trying to say is what will make it so good?

one minor difference? - Please explain?

Also its modern day, is which i like the series so much, im sick of nazis and im sick of aliens. It also has elements of all the FPS's like you say, but it just does them so well.

I know, you get a short campaign and then multiplayer which you would just get in the other COD games. So what's the point?

it's Modern. and it's Warfare Shooty.
I just want to play the story through a few times, have some fun, mess about with all the different weapons, and piss off friends with my awesome hiding skills in multiplayer.

What's the minor difference?

I'm getting it because it allows a large array of customizability online and the online is basically the only reason I'm buying to keep me entertained for about a year like the last one did

One minor difference? Clearly you've looked into the game a lot then.

People like them because they're well crafted, exciting, involving and good fun. CoD is to FPS's what Uncharted 2 is (apparently) to third person action adventures. Not particularly original, but made with very high production values.

Fair enough if you're not bothered about it, but you're hardly making a balanced argument by not even trying to look through someone else's opinion.

I've pre ordered it. Whats not to like? I still ptay COD 4 now 2 years on.

It is set in modern day which is my preference. The controls are tight, there is plenty of polish, the pacing is good, I get to play as the Brits in solo play, multiplayer gives lots of tweaks, customisations and options, not much lag in online play, the option to play hardcore where it doesn't take an entire clip to kill someone and kill streak bonuses are nice too.

#takes a breath#

Hope this answers your question.

Because while they're not particularly original, they're well made, well written and fun.

If I get as much play time out of MW2 as I did from CoD4, then I'll be a happy bloke

I'm refering to playing 'Mike Myers' on CoD4. I'm that damn good at hiding :p
hehehe, it can be so fun XD
ugh... and there is nothing wrong with camping. it's all part of sniping. although I normally make a kill or two, then move on, as a sniper should if they want to stay alive.

I guess not everyone likes the perks but they are popular. On hardcore they are far more balanced with none of the perks being unfair.

I thought COD3 was horrible btw, different strokes I guess.

I loved the pacing of the last Modern Warfare, switching between the two stories was well done.
Plus, the opening of the new game (playable as a terrorist) looks intriguing.

Good for you, you're not buying the game. Shut the fuck up and let everyone else who wants it get it.

If you think like that, you're never going to buy anything. That Psychonauts? Just another platformer. Rez? Yet another shooter. How about Portal? Nah, it's just another puzzle game with a few differences. If the game is fun, well-designed and well-crafted, uniqueness can piss off. I'd rather play an enjoyable game than an original one.

At least give your reasons for disliking it so much, it seems like you want to hate it to stand out.
