What's the crimson looking background from?

It's pretty atmospheric, and contains several characters. Is it just random artwork, or from a game? I might have asked this before a while back, but that'd be a necro-thread for sure.

I think that was one of the backgrounds that won a contest, like the Space one. So it really isn't from anything.

OT: To restate my answer from before the purge. I can't even find out who made that background, the contest seems to have been badly presented. Here's the contest thread, and the voting thread. As Tippy said in your last thread, they didn't allow copyrighted content in the contest so it's certainly original work.
