What's the deal with airline food?

Cross-Pacific flights are funny because if you pick the Western-style dishes it's normal airline food but if you pick the Asian dishes it's actually decent.

From the few times I've flown recently where they provided food I've noticed it's getting better. These days it's only really meals on long flights and those seem to be okay, considering the logistics in feeding so many people in so little space.

Well the times I flew, food has been decent.

I was 7 or less at the time which means I wasn't nearly as picky.

I haven't been on an airline flight that lasted more than an hour in several years. But on those smaller CRJ's and stuff, they have meals available, but it's usually just a drink, being there is hardly enough time at altitude for the stewardess to give everybody a coke.

Anyways, I was on a flight from San Diego to Beijing, China. That was one hell of a flight, I seem to remember them giving us like 3 or 4 meals, and also free reign of the galley.
