I think it's ok to download a game if you've bought the game once but lost it. Or if the cd got scratched and shtuff. What do you think?

Mod Edit~ Your allowed to have a back up copy of your games, providing you still have the disc or cartridge, if you lose the game, you are not allowed a back up

I believe that, ostensibly, this was how a lot of pirated games developed a veneer of credibility. Its not pirating, its backing up a copy of something you already have. I seem to remember this argument in regards to nocd cracks though, so my thoughts might be dated.

Morally, at least, Id say it's fine.

I broke my Oblivion disk, thanks to it's shoddy disc case (european spanish version). I downloaded an image of the game from a torrent site, but then I bought it again from a Steam sale with every single DLC included.

I also downloaded a disk image of Crysis Warhead, but only to get around the draconian DRM the game has.

I also downloaded an image of Battlefield 2 when the disk broke, luckily I could still use my own CD-Key.

I used to download images of Blizzard's games, until they revamped their Battle.net service and turned it into a digital distribution site, I registered my CD-Keys and I can download the digital version of their games.

And that's pretty much it, I do download disk images, but only if it's necessary, like a last resort of sorts. It's been a long time since I downloaded a disk image, as I buy many games from digital distribution sites now.

There are only a few limits. The available number of bytes that comprise total available drive space in your possession, the steadily increasing number of games that can be downloaded, and, if you're into it, the amount of cash you're willing to spend on games. You can download to your heart's content, then gorge yourself for more. You can even pay for them, if you like.
