What's the silliest motto you've heard in a game store?

Little anecdote: I went to GAME one time to get Mass Effect, a 12+ in England. So, I have to bring my passport, to show I'm 14, so, I pick the game up, give the man his money, but he says: 'oh, sorry, can't do that'.
'Why not?' I respond.
'IF OVER PG, ASK FOR ID!'
They ask that to everyone. People who have beards get asked this for over 12+ games. Which I think is silly. What about you people?

They are just doing their job. Have you seen some of the lawsuits against gamestores for selling violents games to kids? Better be safe than sorry, even if it is a nuisance.

I know, I know, but seriously, if someone had a ZZ top beard, they'd ask for ID.

Now, THAT is silly. But... I know a 9 year old who is 5'7" and has a beard.

I'm 14 and I went to a local game store to buy GTA IV. I'm going to try to write his exact words here:
Store clerk: "How old are you?"
Me: "14."
Store clerk: "I can sell you this game if you promise me something."
Me: "(*Finding his response odd*)Okay."
Store clerk: "Promise me you won't kill anyone."

Needless to say I never bought any games there again, but it kind of makes me wonder.

At one of my local video game stores that isn't owned by a bigger company keeps all M-rated games in back and if you want to go back there you have to show an ID. I think the owner doesn't understand that in the videogame world Mature does not equal porn. Seriously, I just go there because it is close by and a friend works there.

Ahh yes we have really great life here. You go to shop where games are sold, you pick game and buy it. Nobody asks for age or anything at all because mostly the shopkeepers don't know nothing about the content only what have they seen on the box. My cousin bought Hitman Blood Money when he was 9 and nobody asked, now he is 10.

I bet his voice would catch 'em off.
Dude, he hit puberty at 8. I doesn't.
A nine year old with a beard... Are you sure he went through puberty and wasn't "13 Going on 30"ed? (That's "Suddenly 30"ed for the Austrailians)

Quick question.... What the hell is wrong with that kid?

The EB I go too, doesn't have any little quips like that... Thank god

They probably let him out the door because they figured if he ages a year by the end of a sentence, he'd be of age by the time he got home :p

I bought Gears of War 2 at a Gamestop. I was 14 at the time, and the guy just asked me if I was 17.
