This is incredibly frustrating. Beside the fact that RE5 wiped all my saved data on my PC somehow, forcing me to start from scratch even though I was toward the end of the game, Windows Live associated with this game outright refuses to allow me to sign in. I am POSITIVE the username/pw I'm using is correct, and even agreed to go along and assume it's not so I can simply reset it. I enter the answer to my security question correctly and reset my pw and it still continues to say I'm wrong. Can someone enlighten me as to what may be going wrong here?

Apart from saying GFWL sucks, I cannot enlighten you, However, you can create an offline profile.

1) Do whatever you can to close the dialog
2) Press the Home key
3) Select 'Create new profile'
4) Scroll down the text to reveal a cunningly hidden link that lets you create an offline profile.

Oh actually maybe I can enlighten you. It's not a username/password combo you have to enter, it's email/password. Maybe you got that wrong.

My theory is that GFWL was designed to drive PC gamers away from PC gaming in the hopes that some of them would get an Xbox instead.

I haven't played RE5 but usually with GFWL it isn't necessary. I have like 8 games glued to against my will and it constantly pops up to tell me I'm not logged in but I can continue to play. If its of any consolation, every game, save one, on my GFWL thing has had a sequel that uses Steam achieves instead. GTA4 hasn't been sequeled and Bulletstorm doesn't get one, other then that everything has stopped using it.

GFWL has all sorts of problems with signing in, sometimes going as far as to just get stuck on the sign in screen - and sometimes, this can only be fixed by things as radical as complete reinstalls.

Only good thing is that if you have an Xbox you get some achievement points, but GFWL is just a resource-draining, game-breaking, slow, broken, irritating pile of junk.

Basically, OP, reinstall the game and reboot your PC. That should fix it. GFWL is never fixed, though, and that problem will return in time.

Some people struggle to keep their OS up-to-date.

When Age of Empires was on sale, most people didn't have .NET Framework 4 installed which caused quite a few problems with the new client. Stupid people.
