So this isn't an all that unusual topic, but I haven't seen it in a while and I just got back into Soul Silver with my girlfriend.

So Escapists, what's your current or most wanted Pokemon team? It can be in any game and be any pokemon, naturally.
If you want to name the moves you have you're all free to as well, as well as your strategies relating to those pokemon and their moves.

I'll get the ball rolling. I've just trained up a new team for a battle between myself and my girlfriend, so they're all pretty low levels;

Electabuzz - Bolt: lvl 50. Moves are Discharge, Thunderbolt, Rock Climb and Swift.
I always liked Electabuzz, but I never got to use them since I had Yellow as a kid. By the tike I got Gold and Silver, there were a hundred or so new pokemon and I never got to use him.

Crawdaunt - Stanley: lvl 50. Moves are Payback, Crabhammer, Night Slash and Crunch.
I love the look of Crawdaunt, with her sunken eyes and interesting design. On top of that, she can learn Crabhammer, which is as powerful as Surf, but almost unheard of, so it catches people by surprise.

Marowak - Skully: lvl 50. Moves are Double Edge, Bonemerang, Headbutt and False Swipe.
Marowak was always in the same boat as Electabuzz. As soon as Gen 2 came out he was forgotten for newer and more interesting pokemon, but he's got great defense and my Marowak has Rock Head as an ability, so he receives no recoil from moves. With Rock Head and Double Edge, which does 120 damage and has 15PP, he's almost unstoppable.

Walrein - Arnold: lvl 50. Moves are Ice Fang, Surf, Avalanche and Body Slam.
Walrein was always a bit unreachable for me, since I could never find a Spheal in SS. But as soon as I got him I knew he would be one of my favorite pokemon.
He's Water/Ice type, but since he's Water type Fire's super effectiveness is nullified. Couple that with Thick Fat as an ability and Fire is not very effective at all.
On top of that, he's not that fast, which is perfect of a move like Avalanche, which does double damage if you're hit first in a turn. All that rolls together to make him a very formidable pokemon.

Arcanine - Annie: lvl 50. Moves are Flamethrower, Heat Wave, Reversal and Crunch.
Annie again was another pokemon that was forgotten about, like Electabuzz and Marowak, but finally getting a Growlithe was great and I soon evolved it into a fighting machine.
Arcanine is super powerful and super fast, making it the perfect preemptive strike pokemon. With moves like Heat Wave and Flamethrower she proves her dominance on the battlefield, but with Reversal, which gets more powerful the lower your health is, she can come out of nowhere and KO amazingly when you think the fight is over.

Quagsire - Quinlan: lvl 50. Moves are Sludge Bomb, Earthquake,
Yawn and Slam.
Quinlan is possibly one of the most versatile of my pokemon, since he can poison with Sludge Bomb, cause extreme damage with Earthquake and Slam and send opponents to sleep with Yawn. Coupled with the fact that he's Water/Ground, he's defended against electric type attacks, a Water types biggest weakness, and stop explosive pokemon from using Explosion or Selfdestruct, with Damp, it's ability.

Your team makes me a little bit sad. Good thing it doesn't sound like it's a competitive team.

Here's an oldish one of mine:

<spoiler=Long Post is long>
Team at a glance:

Name: "Pinksir" Pinsir (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 26 HP, 232 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+ Atk, - Sp. Atk)
- X-Scissor
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Quick Attack

Pinksir is used on this team as an anti-lead. He actually functions quite well as one, taking out most of the top leads in OU, only having real difficulty with Swampert. Pinksir is also useful if he makes it past round 1, having a priority attack and overall a pretty good type coverage, he can help out in the mid-late game. X-Scissor is the primary attack, with Earthquake and Rock Slide there if it is resisted. I chose Rock Slide over Stone Edge, as the number of extra KOs was not worth the accuracy loss.

Pinksir vs. top OU leads:

- X-Scissor no matter what. Quick Attack if there is a Focus
Sash
- Earthquake no matter what. Quick Attack after if it is still alive
- X-Scissor until dead. Swampert will win if it doesn't set up Stealth
Rocks, but will lose if it does
- Earthquake until dead
- Rock Slide no matter what. Quick Attack if it is still alive
- I'll usually switch to Claydol to take the Fake Out. If I don't, it is an
Earthquake + Quick Attack for the kill
- I'll eat the Sleep Powder. If it hits, I'll switch to Salamence, if it
misses, X-Scissor will take it down to 1 HP. Quick Attack will take it
out from there
- Earthquake until dead
- X-Scissor until dead
- I'll switch to Salamence or Gengar

Claydol (N/A) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 114 Atk, 144 Def
Nature: Impish (+ Def, - Sp. Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Explosion

Claydol functions as my second lead. His main role is to set up Stealth Rocks. If Pinksir allowed the other lead to set up Stealth Rocks, Claydol can come in and spin them away. Earthquake will be its main STAB attack, while Explosion can make a nice dent in whatever is explodes on. Claydol is sometimes a surprise, as a Special variant is more common.

Salamence (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 16 Atk, 240 Sp. Atk 252 Spe
Nature: Naive (+ Speed, - Sp. Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Outrage

Salamence is now a mixed attacker. It is now able to break down walls of both the physical and special variety. Draco Meteor and Fire Blast are here for physical walls, while Earthquake and Outrage are available against special walls.

Gengar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Modest (+ Sp. Atk, - Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power Ice

Gengar is the Revenge Killer of this team. The Choice Scarf allows it to outspeed almost everything, and the moves given allow for at least neutral damage to most opponents. Shadow Ball is the primary STAB move. Thunderbolt is mostly for Gyarados and Skarmory. Focus Blast hits normal and dark types hard and HP Ice is used for pesky Dragons. I have also considered using Explosion or Trick on Gengar to deal with Blissey, but have yet to actually find the need. Explosion would replace either Focus Blast or HP Ice.

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP, 40 Def, 216 Spe
Nature: Impish (+ Def, - Sp. Atk)
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge

Gliscor works well as a Wall on this team. He does his job by keeping Lucario in check almost all of the time. He is able to switch in to Lucario and OHKO it with Earthquake. It can then Roost off any damage. Knock off is to help deal with other Walls, as well as deal with Choice item Pokemon like a CB Tyranitar. Stone Edge gives additional coverage especially against Flying types that completely avoid Earthquake.

Empoleon (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP, 12 Def, 252 Sp. Atk, 232 Spe
Nature: Modest (+ Sp. Atk, - Atk)
- Substitute
- Agility
- Surf
- Ice Beam

The idea behind this set is to come in on one of Empoleon's resistances, use Substitute, then use Agility. I'll then substitute down to under 25% health, in order to activate the Petaya Berry. After it is activated, I go for a sweep with Surf and Ice Beam. Surf hits almost everything hard, and what it fails to take out, Ice Beam usually can. I am debating whether or not to switch Ice Beam to Grass Knot, as currently Vaporeon more or less ends the sweep.

Team at a glance again:

I don't remember the moves or the levels but my team in Soul Silver is:

Feraligatr (Croc)
Golem
Blaziken - Level 100 (imported from my Ruby Version)
Metang (working on making it a Metagross)
Amphaross
Kanghaskan

However, I always preferred my party in Crystal:

Feraligatr (Croc) - Level 100
Lugia - Level 96
Ho-Oh (Rainbow) - Level 80 or so
Suicune (Friendly (caught in a friend ball)) - Level 60 or so
Sudowoodo - Level 60 or so
Scizor - Level 100

I went through so much with that party.

Do you find Gengar and salamence to be useful?
I have both but Im always worried gengars speed will constantly get him owned by alakazam and Garchomp/dragonite have poven better equiped to fight ice types unlike salamence, who if only had a phy fire attack...
Well...that team is actually obsolete now, as Salamence is Uber. But yeah, both of them were really good. Garchomp is obviously better than Salamence, but was Uber at time of creation.

Now, Dragonite would replace Salamence. I made this team like a year ago though.

I'll keep the levels and most of the moveset's a secret. But here's a hint...
Garchomp
Charizard
Empoleon
Shuckle - Power Trick, Headbutt
Porygon Z - Trick Room
Lucario

There's some other nasty surprises.

Oh and I don't count legendaries in my actual team. Can't use them at Battle Tower so no point in training them to be part of my team. If I did It'd be something like

Mewtwo
Deoxys
Dialga
Lugia
Lucario
Charizard

lol don't worry, I don't compete at all. If I did I'd have an actual good team. ;P
Nah, the little game mygirlfriend and I had last week was that we'd spend a week training 6 pokemon we personally loved but never bothered to use to lvl 50 and battle at the end of the week. I wasn't anything serious, just some fun. ;P
A side note was that we'd draw out team and show each other after the battle.
Here's a link to the pic I did.
http://captaincabbage.deviantart.com/#/d38qtcf

I am a bit of a newb when it comes to competative pokemon gaming, could you show me what mistakes you think I made on my team? Remember that we were only allowed to use two TMs to teach moves and other than that we had to do it naturally.

I'm pretty much always swinging this team:
Espeon, Tyranatar, Lucario, Gyrados (Shiny), Torterra, Ho-oh
That's my general team, all level 100.
(Training the event Entei to maybe take Ho-oh's place. Atleast for when people won't let me use Ho-oh)

For Heart Gold my team is
Typhosion, Kingdra, Ampharos, Yanmega, Mamoswine, Xatu.
All about 60

And Platinum has
Torterra, Crobat, Houndoom, Gallade, Electavire, Floatzel.
All about 65

And since I'm in the process of a Ruby replay, challenging myself to use diffrent Pokemon
Mudkip....

I raised up a team from both Fire Red and Emerald, putting them into emerald, because I preferred the world. Metagross (lvl 100) Charizard (lvl 100) Pikachu (nicknamed Sparky) (lvl 100, one of my first pokemon along with Charizard) Milotic (lvl 100) Mewtwo (lvl 70) and Mightyena (lvl 100)

all trained and evolved and such by me. Catching and evolving Feebas to get Milotic took forever... I've been too "I should move off these games, they're for kids" to get soul silver, heart gold, or diamond or pearl.

Competitive Play is moot to me =/

Currently on my SS im using:

Typholsion
Slowbro (maybe Slowking better)
Magnezone
Machamp
Mukrow (training)
Mamoswine

I know some of this are Top Tiers, but i just chose em for typing, availability, and they are generally cool.
