This relates to morality systems in games (although they are fairly arbitrary) and whether a) You turn out to be 'Good' or 'Bad' according to the game's standards b) whether you came out good or bad accoting to your standards, and c) whether you actually give a monkeys. Personally, I am always good to get the decent endings, but I feel the whole idea makes role-playing futile because im not doing what I would do- i'm doing what would get me the most good points.

I always try and do what I would do or what sounds most fun. Unfortunately this keeps giving me the ultra good endings. I've tried but I just can't be evil!

I usually do things the way I'd do them in real life. Not bad, but not strictly good either. (Unless it's a broken system like Mass Effect 2, where you had to just pick one or the other.)

It varies. I build up an idea of what the character's like in my head, and play it as they would. In other words, I actually role play!

Examples: My Shepard (Mass Effect) tends to be very paragon-esque. Ideally he wants to spare others from all the shit he's been through, and he'd avoid a fight if he could, simply due to how much fighting he's done in life.

My Hawke's a jaded cynical aggressive asshole, and whilst he's (mostly) decent to those he teams up with (because he doesn't want an angry spirit of Justice coming after him), he'll threaten or assault others as necessary to get any information he needs.

It's kind of like acting, only digitally

I tend to go good on the first play through of a game with morality.

The second time time through its as evil as possible for the fun of it.

I always go with my own personal moral compass on the first playthrough of a game.

This usually leads to a "mostly good but sometimes an asshole" morality

I normally go with Good the few times I play a game with a moral choice system. I think I chose to damn people a lot more in Dante's inferno just because absolving them took so long.

Usually chaotic asshole, unless I'm trying to really completely beat the game, when I play lawful stupid, always making the right choices and following the game's rules regardless of personal feelings.

I usually play a game to get as much "good points" as I can, so I follow the game's morality system even if it doesn't match my own. I will make an exception if taking the other route gives me a really good item that I care about or much more XP or something. Then I retcon it in my head and enjoy the sweet, sweet rewards of not[footnote]retconned[/footnote] doing the right thing.

The kleptomania/good alignment is what most games appear to be designed around, so that's what I usually play for the best experience.
You nick everything that's not part of the scenery, because there are no consequences, only advantages. Then you end up saving the world, because that's how the game is scripted regardless of what you try.

When I was playing Mass Effect, I always made sure to pick the option I thought would give me the most Paragon points.

That didn't stop me from feeling totally bad-ass and awesome when I saved the Citadel.

I also feel uncomfortable being bad in games like that, to the point that I try to come up with justifications for picking the evil options, like "it's necessary" or "it's cost effective".

I liked the Mass Effect morality system, it kept things simple. Compared to Dragon Age which re-arranged the options all the time

Personally for me I pick all the good choices all the time

I act like i would in real life, taking the choices i would really do, this normally lands me in an ultimately good moral area with a few bad patches

I try to be good, unless the evil thing is REALLY fun sounding.
