So Escapists, we've been hearing a lot about various things in the upcoming TES game, Skyrim. A lot of it sounds good and some bad, but I want to know, what are your personal hopes and wishes for Skyrim?

I'll get the ball rolling, shall I? I'm personally hoping for some more fake animals, like Guars and stuff to be in Skyrim. Sure, it's cool to have deer, rats, wolves and bears, but it'd just make it a bit more interesting to see a guy in a field herding a pack of betty netches in vain.
I'd love to also have a return of lycanthropy. Another guy here on the Escapist suggested individualized lycanthropy for each race, so Argonians would turn into Killer Croc-esqe monsters and stuff.

EDIT: BTW guys, we already know all of those smarmy remarks like "ooh, how about more than 12 voice actors?" so please don't post any of that crap.

No ugly fat faces, please no ugly fat faces.
It's really petty for me to criticize a game for having a certain art style but Bethesda can not make decent looking people, they all look like they have the mumps at best, and at worst they're annoyingly perky chicks with mustaches.
(Shudder)

So yeah, no ugly fat faces.

My only wish is that I can somehow resist playing it for 20 hours a day for weeks straight...

I'd just be happy to have non psychic guards. They shouldn't be able to know if I killed a guard in the middle of nowhere, at least not for a few days.

-Deeper combat that isn't boring.
-Locational damage that doesn't just mean an enemy's arm flies off when killed.
-More potent magic and archery.
-Boosts to the stealth system.
-Climbing.
-Polearms and spears.
-Advanced horse riding, like a mix between Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed 2.

Unfortunately I can't, I have Oblivion and Fallout 3 on console.

I like the idea of Lycanthropy that you mentioned (especially being killer croc) personally im hoping for more original magics for the mage/wizard/phwoar class. Im sick of all these games that follow Diablo so closely by just having elemental or warlock magics. I have always loved magic in games and want to see more original stuff. Here il even give an idea. How about being able to turn enemies into books. You could then pick up the book and read it to improve stats/abilities slightly (like the skill books in fallout 3). Or let me generate shurikens out of my hands! or let me absorb blood from my enemies for health blod omen 2 style. Hell im just sick of spamming fireball, getting bored, then spamming lightning bolt to mix it up.

I just want it to not feel empty like Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas all feel. I want an intuitive combat system that is all wonky like Oblivion. I want interesting dungeons, unlike Oblivion that are bland and boring. I want more emphasis on magic, because magic was pretty useless in Oblivion (for the most part). I want there to be a response to anything that can be done in that game (this would help with the empty feeling).

Now, I loved Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but we can't deny that there are many ways for them to improve.

WHOA, I need to upgrade my comp and replay Oblivion on it rather than my ps3.... anyways, what I want is good combat skills that are useful and enemies that actually require better skills to defeat, all I did in Oblivion was wail on everything until they fell down.

This. But this has already proven to be fixed. Fixed so well that I didn't even believe that the link below was really an Elder Scrolls screenshot.
Bottom right. [http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/3048/skyrimgi8.jpg]

Well, my biggest wish is that they follow through on what they've announced so far (everything in the February Issue of GameInformer from the leaked stuff I've read anyway).

the individualized Lycanthropy is an amazing idea, maybe not a Killer-Croc type thing, because that's just a bigger lizard, but maybe something along the lines of a patchy scaly lizard wolf that looks half way between an iguana and a coyote.

Yeah, Oblivion is one of those games that really should be played on PC, like TF2. I can only assume Skyrim will be the same way.

maybe a better engine system (theyve kinda been doing the same thing from at least Oblivion to Fallout NV) hopefully that makes the characters in the game have better motion, and the fighting a bit mroe fluid.

I'd like the character creation to be all before the game starts please, with explanations on what it means if your race is the lizard guy or human b.

Also I'd like the story to be a bit more... involving. Oblivion is kind of "You're free from jail, the king is dead, here's his pendant, go save world." I mean I'm fine with "go fight evil" scenario and whatnot but can I please get some better quest directions on how to do this?

Oh, and I'd like it if most of the general level up system was that of Fallout 3 (although I do like the whole doing something ups that skill idea, just not the you need skills up to llevel and you only level after sleeping)

And I want more sidequests than just the ones you get from the guilds. And less annoying sidequests too.

Just take fallouts system and make it oblivion for the most part.

Personally, I always found the wildlife and outside environment to be a little disjointed in previous games, and I'd love for there to be more of a Red Dead feel to it. Also, hopefully with the (supposedly) no longer clunky combat, we might be able to get more interesting combat - especially considering that the new antagonists, dragons, are essentially airborne creatures.

The return of Lycanthropy would also be awesome, and it would be interesting to see how that and vampirism might affect the hardcore/survival mode; which is another thing I'm hoping to see.

That was my reaction as well. I can't believe Bethesda pulled off a woman like that.
They should have been building their own engines since they first made the move to 3D.
