When is the last time that you blushed?

I've been thinking a lot lately about blushing, because it's an emotional reaction that you don't see much and kind of smacks of coquettish heroines in novels or some such, but it assuredly does happen, if only rarely.

The last time I blushed was just over a year ago. In order to understand why the situation was unusual, I need to give a bit of background. I grew up in Britain (Staffordshire, specifically), but have an American mother and came to the US some years ago where I have stayed since (somewhat against my will). I still have a very pronounced home counties accent, however, which despite popular opinion is actually a huge pain in the arse. People in the US make stupid jokes or think that it's an affectation to look cool and meet women. This kind of bollocks would bother me less if I actually did well with the ladies, but sadly that's not the case.

Point being, common perception be damned, women don't throw themselves at me because of how I talk... usually. I can only think of 2 or 3 exceptions in many years. However, last year, I was working at a liquor store (off-licence, for my fellow Brits) because I was desperate for work. We would frequently have companies that made alcoholic beverages come in to sample their new products - this was the best part of a truly rubbish job. One day, a company from Indiana that makes bourbon comes in. Bourbon is traditionally only really made in Kentucky, so this was kind of exceptional. With them, as is not uncommon, they had a woman who was blonde, huge blue eyes, very... well proportioned, etc. The buxom blonde that is lauded in cinema and screen isn't really my type, but she was a remarkably beautiful woman by anyone's measure.

At one point, I was sampling the bourbon (which was very good, and I'm not much on bourbon) and talking to the company owners, when all of a sudden this stunning woman says, very loudly, "My God, your accent is so sexy... I could listen to you talk all day." Everyone stops talking and, during the few seconds of surprised silence, I turn as red as a traffic light. Everyone else sees my complexion and starts laughing.

I ended up having a chat with this woman where she kept flirting with me. We actually ended up having a fair amount in common as she was a speech therapist as her main occupation (I'm in linguistics, myself, so you can see the link). I never saw her again after that but my coworkers were taking the mickey out of me for weeks after that because I lit up like a Christmas tree.

Anyway, there's mine... When's the last time you blushed? Don't be shy about humiliating yourself - the gossamer screen of anonymity that is the Internet protects us all.

I'm... not sure. I can't see my face (duh), and the only time you can tell is if someone tells you.

I smile though when events like those happen. That smile that creeps up on you and you can't keep it contained. Has to happen at least once a week.

I think the last time I blushed was in front of my old high school crush back in my senior year of high school. Don't exactly remember what caused it, but I would assume she was talking to me when it happened.

Ahaha... ha... clever...(!)

OT: Don't really remember... I'm a grumpy sod most of the time and I respond to compliments by looking archly at the speaker, often with a scowl...

The only one I can remember is several months ago I have to give a presentation (speech) about my hobby, Gundam models making in English class.
I guess I was embrasses but I sort of counteract it by taking my jacket off to show them my Gundam t-shirt (my teacher did say you get better marks if you're wearing something relating to your speech).
Needless to say I did well in it since I had gotten an A for my speech.

Uhh....damn, I forget.

But it was probably because my girlfriend said something really sweet, or because a family member said something about me and my girlfriend.

Whatever. One of those two. Sometime over the course of this month.

A year or so when one of my female friends wanted to take a nap on my lap and had her head directly on my crouch. I wasn't thinking of her as hot or anything (she is one of my closest friends) but the idea still stood as that.

Last friday, i was in some class and i mispelled a word in an epic manner (mostly because i was tired), my friend who sits next to me immediatly pointed it out and as we laughed about it , he wrote the mispelled word in his notebook to taunt me later.

i blushed because everyone heard i mispelled it so i was quite embarassed.

I'm quite certain I've never blushed.

I'm serious, I don't seem to be capable of it. I've had red cheeks during the winter, but only because of the weather.

I...I think I kind of lose track, I know it happened once at least the other day, for reasons I'm not going into here, for your benefit more than mine...

I think it might have been at the beginning of the school year. We were doing one of those getting to know you things for the English class and everyone had to introduce the person next to them. The guy next to me is a somewhat annoying friend of mine who's parents are hippies and so he carries around a walkman, has hemp sandals, says "man" etc. So I'm about to introduce him and I realize he hasn't told me what he wants me to say that he likes. So he whispers to me "the smell of burning incense. I introduce him and it's going very well until I misspoke and said "The smell of burning incest". I managed to maintain my composure but the rest of the class not so much. Luckily my teacher was cool about it and ended up joking about it too.

I don't think i have blushed in years. I rarely get embarassed. Sure, sometimes i get akward or uncomfortable but i very rarely feel embarassed nowadays.

Even then it has to be a pretty darn strong embarassment to make me blush. I can remember a few times as a stupid kid but that is all.

I can't remember, to be honest. Mind you, a massive beard, such as I had until recently, will cover up the vast majority of any blush.

I tend to only get embarassed by compliments on my appearance, really. In a public speaking context, which I don't do so much since I finished university, I tended just to stumble over my words and stare at a point about a foot over the head of the audience.

For me it's an everyday occurance like sunrise.Even when i'm alone, if i think about something borderline retarded i did years ago i blush...or when i'm extremely concentrated on something like trying to beat "Through Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce on Extreme...or when i'm in a hurry...Damn i envy people who say that they are incapable of blushing.
