What you must remember is that you liked them because you were young, and the shows were aimed at kids of you and your age.

Your tastes change, and the shows are still aimed at young kids, while you have grown older.

So why complain about a show that isn't even aimed at your age?

It's called wearing the nostalgia goggles,if something as little as one of the interns leave that crew team the show is "RUINED FOREVER" and will suck forever more. It's pretty sad actually.

I hear that nostalgia goggles phrase a lot when people talk about Pokemon

Sesame Street really was better back in my day. ADD as hell, but at least it was teaching sentential composition, word structure and actual reading techniques, rather than just being a glorified vocabulary builder. On the other hand, Ponies are undoubtedly much improved, and I probably would have appreciated the Social Lessons/Magic Comedy element as a kid too. Hmm.

Because maybe some of them were? Go watch some Dexter's Lab, then go watch some Johnny Test.

Say what you want but I still watch cartoons that were on when I was a kid they are fantastic and have good stories or are funny. I also watch shows occaasionally from before my time lie loooney toons but those I consider to be classics and I appreciate them as a animator and just because there humorous.

I find shows these days tend to be either really mindless and straightforward or they try to shove education down your throat one or the other.

I guess I would complain because this is what my children would be growing up on and I would just like them to be able to enjoy quality stories and funny gags rather than have education shoved in there face 24/7 or even just a show that follows basic plot formula and never changes I mean cartoons are a place where the animation studios should be creative! I want my kids to appreciate animation as much as I do.

Aye, tis true, although they seem a tad bit more brainless nowadays with the exception of My Little Pony. It's in a different vein of brilliance, no actually its own circulatory system of excellence and joy.

Because cartoons were awesome when I was a kid.

Come on we had Thundercats, Super Ted, Batfink, Cities of Gold, Danger Mouse, Bananman and Bucky O Hare.

Not only the coolest characters but the best theme songs (I dare anyone to find a modern theme song in a kids show better than Chip n Dale, Duck Tales, Cities of Gold or Batfink).

This.I watch tv with my niece and it seems like every second show is trying to teach kids something. When I was a kid the educational shows were very few and far between.Compared to what I used to watch I can say that a lot of modern kids tv is not as good as it used to be

I don't because I hardly watched them even as a child and still thought many of the ones aimed at my age range were horrific.

There are however plenty of examples of children's cartoons which still appeal to those who are older. Look at MLP. One could also argue that something such as Family Guy is watched enough by children to be considered among the "new" cartoons.

My issue is more what they show. High School is overly portrayed now in many children shows...generally way more fluffy and nice than any real HS. Most kids shows seem to want to turn 10 year olds right into 16 year olds, and thats my real issue.

It's not just kids shows, it's all forms of media. Ask most people on the internet and we're basically entering the dark ages of TV, movies, music and even video games. Nothing will every be as good as it used to be. It's what's known as hyperbole, and the internet is the #1 breeding ground for it. Take what people say on the internet with a huge grain of salt.

In reality, things aren't getting any better or worse...just different. And most people don't like what's different.

Most kids show off today make everything look great and happy and that friendship is the best thing ever, it's the same thing in every kids show, courage the cowardly dog was about a dog named courage that was a coward and that got into cool adventures that involved paranormal activities, damm I loved that show

One day out of boredom I saw Dexters's Lab was on and watched it for 5 minutes realizing that kids would watch anything I mean how do kids put up with the voice acting

I'm 23 years old and I still watch Looney Tunes daily. None of the crap on now can hold a candle to watching Bugs outsmart Daffy and make Elmer shoot him.

And the original transformers and a few other awesome shows like dungeons and dragons....

I've only seen a few but MOST most of what I see is now trying to ram a message down their throats - there's no more classic good vs evil, stuff being blown up and other awesome things....unless I've missed them so yeh tastes change but kids still want to see good awesome fights - stuff blowing up and other epicness and not being force-fed a message....

The late-eighties through the nineties had Duck Tales, Beast Wars, Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, the original TMNT, Recess, Rescue Rangers, etc. And a couple decades before that had Warner Bros' golden age. I'm in my twenties now and I can still watch those shows and enjoy them unironically.

There's still good stuff today, but it's just not the same.

While I do agree with the OP but I suppose the times when I do complain about modern shows these days are the "correctness" e.g. the Cookie Monster got change into the "Veggie" Monster. The same can be said about the humours like some of the hidden muture like jokes from the old shows which these days they are like forbid to use.
