My internet was down for thee past week, everyday I would turn on my computer and see if it was working again. After realising it was still down, I would look around the computer desk and nearby game shelves to see if there were any PC games I hadn't played in a while....
And there it was... Red Faction II.... over the course of the week that game changed from a Pass time to an addiction, but today my internet was returned to me, and I have not not played RFII,(or any other game for that matter on any platform) and have instead spent the majority of my Day, here on the escapist, reading reviews on Gamespot, finding out what I can about the PS2 release of Jak and Daxter: the Lost Frontier and Downloading the new alice in chains album,
all the while, Red Faction has been sitting beside my screen unwanted, it's possible it may remain where it is until the next time my internet is down...

You may have been wondering what the point of this Topic is, and here are my questions to you, people of the escapist,
When your internet is down, what do you do? Do you play old forgotten games like I did? or do you avoid your computer altogether? seeing no reason for it without internet access or perhaps you never have this problem... but if you do...
what is the First thing you do when your internet access is returned to you?

When I moved to my flat I didn't have an internet connection for the first month. Luckily Fallout 3 had just come out so I played the shit out of that, but as soon as my internet was back up I didn't touch it. I only really want to play multiplayer games, so when my internets down I do what you did and attempt to finish games/single player parts of games I otherwise wouldn't touch.

I do homework, seriously though the internet is such a distraction for me. Last time I lost the internet I got at least 20 pages of work done. In less than two hours.

I read a good book.

You know, these strange things, that gave the inspiration for the creation of the first manual. I mean before there was pdf...

Old games are obviously a good candidate, but I ran into problems with that.
Most of them won't work on vista without any patches or help from the internet.

See the South Park Episode Overlogging, regarding that issue.

When my net is down I read a book, listen to music, or go out to a movie or go hang with friends.

Or maybe play a game. But whenever my net DOES go down I always feel a sudden urge to use it. :'(

Minesweeper all the way, baby. I also go back to the PS2 and Wii.
Usually by the time the internet's back, my sister reclaims the computer.

Curl up in a corner and cry.

Or ring my ISP and yell at the tech guy till he makes it work.

If I am at home, I play PS3 games. If I'm outside without internet, well, I play my Laptop games such as Armadillo Run, World of Goo, Braid, and Plants vs. Zombies. They're all fun and replayable games.

I also have the option in drawing my personal concept collection (anime-related).

When I get internet, the first things I do is open all my bookmarks.

When I last moved, I ended up playing through Tales of Symphonia again before we finally got the internet hooked up. Pretty much the same thing happened when my computer was unhooked so that I could get my new desk installed.

I haven't touched ToS since I got my desk a year ago.

I only play single player games on the PC and most of them I don't get around to finishing so I always have something to do. But I always find myself going back to my Gameboy colour and finishing either Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons again.

First part: yeah, mostly, or some Xbox, second part: open xchat 2 and Firefox and do what I usually do when I get on the computer: chat and browse my usual sites.
