A buddy and I wanted to play some co op games, real couch co op games. After a bit of searching, we came up empty handed. Very few classic games we remember hold up, and most modern games have a pretty high bar for entry, or we've played them ad infinitum.
So, fellow Escapists, know any good co op games?
Any generation, including PC. Explain why you like them, if you don't mind.

Yeah I'd love for split-screen to make a bit of a comeback.
In that regard I'm very pleased Borderland/Gearbox seem happy to take up the flag for us couch buddies.

This is a good site for filtering through co-op titles, [ http://www.co-optimus.com/ ]

I really like playing co-op games with my friends, after all there is nothing like booting up a game and blowing up zombies with some good friends. I'd hate to say it, but an online experience just doesn't do it.

No, thank you!

Halo or possibly Left 4 Dead 2 are my favourite coop games, and possibly minecraft. Asides from those, coop play in games is sadly in decline...

My brother and I tend to only play co-op together. Once things get competitive fights break out. Some of the games we play together:

LittleBigPlanet (both 1 and 2)- fantastic because as long as the servers are still up, you'll die before you can play every level (not even exaggerating, the amount of user-generated content means it would take longer than a human lifespan to play it all)

Any of the LEGO games (currently Batman 2)- we love LEGO, and Superheroes, and games. Perfect fusion of three favourite hobbies.

Kirby's Adventure Wii/Return to Dreamland- just awesome fun.

That's it for now, I may return with more.
