That happened to me with Assassin's Creed 2, Borderlands, and God of War 3. Funny thing about GOW 3 though, I played it immediately after I got it at the midnight launch and played until about 4 am, I had to be at work by 8 am and I already had a long day before all that.

I've been known to loose track of time when I play games.

Condemned 2.

I sat down, popped it in and got ready to play for an hour or so.

8 or so hours later, I had beaten the game, stood up, and immediately fell over because my legs were asleep.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Oblivion and both Mass Effects have done that; a whole afternoon has disappeared. Actually most games I have do that at some time.

Minecraft is notorious for this. But honestly a lot of games do this to me if they're good. I remember a few weeks ago I played And Yet It Moves, expecting to spend half an hour and then get tired of another cheap indie game. Instead I spend like 3 hours and played through the whole thing non-stop. Limbo I also wasn't that into at the start but I played through it at a friend's house at night on a big TV and it was so awesome we just couldn't stop until we were done.

I'm about halfway through my first insanity playthrough on Mass Effect 2. I started playing at around 14:00 yesterday and next thing I knew it was 1:00 and I was hungry.

Turn based strategy games like Civilisation are evil for this. The set up makes you go 'I'll just get this thing done, and I'll turn it off...' but there's always these small, incremental bits and pieces that draw you along. Next thing you know, you've grown a beard.

This is also why I don't play MMO's.
