Where did you come up with your aliases?

After seeing a thread in which someone was mentioning where their alias came from. So I thought I'd ask, Where did you come up with your alias? If you don't have a neat story for your Escapist alias, feel free to share any other aliases you have, and any stories about their conception.

Mine, well, I've been using Altorin ever since I was about 6, I think I just thought it sounded cool, I've tried to come up with reasons for it existing, but they've all been retconned, in actuality, I don't know where it originally came from.

I have a few other aliases with better stories attached to them.

Dirkin is another major alias of mine, and it comes from my first Dungeons and Dragons NPC that became a recurring character in my games. Dirkin Nickelbuckle was a gnome mage with MANY brothers, who were always looking for one another. He went on to be the name of my most prolific RPG character, a gnome mage who eventually remorted into a Faerie in a MUD called Darkover.

Another alias, Volent, came when I made a WoW character team with my girlfriend. She took the alias Maleve, and I took Volent, and together, we were Malevolent. I've continued to use this alias in several places, even though I have quit WoW, and I still answer to "Vol"

Another of my aliases is Nelo, which was taken directly from Devil May Cry. It origianally was NeloAngelo, but I truncated it to Nelo. I use that one on various forums. My XBL gamertag is "Volenelo" which is a mixture of Nelo and Volent, which forms almost a palindrome.

So, share your alias stories, cause I'd like to read some of them.

I think this thread was already made.

But, I'll amuse you for now.

I chose my name, because of the fact, this is a forum. If I don't want to get banned for a negative comment. I would have to give an argument to prove that I'm right.
Since this is a forum, I jump to random threads to give my point of view.

Since I'm a man. Well.... you guessed it

So there it is: Random argument man. You can call me RAM for short.

NewClassic, part oxymoron, part silly, all awesome.

Not a lot of history to this one, I just use it as my frequent Forum/Account name. Easy to remember, and slightly silly in it's oxymoronic forum. And, considering my resounding approval in the IBhC Thread, I'm guessing it's not much of a misnomer here.

Captain Private is my character name in most online games, and generally used as my most common "I answer to this" names. I go by Cap in a lot of circles, and this one is also named after one of my favorite oxymorons, despite a lot of people missing the fact that it's meant to be two different military ranks instead of the superhero of privacy.

Sir Wobbles being my other online game moniker. Oddly enough, I'm still not, nor will probably ever be, used to being addressed as "Sir" in a formal sense. Although it does make me feel like I did something important enough to be knighted.

Ultimately, though, it's just a name. A very oxymoronic name, but a name none the less.

I was really into The Wheel of Time when i came up with the name, and took the name Aginor from one of the villains in book 1. I've not finished the series (was at book 4 when i stopped...should go back to it at one point), but the username remains. I use it on mostly every site I make an account on. GameFAQS, Youtube Newground (although i just use that account to favourite it things. I don't intend to ever go on the forums there).

As for the 27, i just threw a random number on there.

"Crowghast" was a funny nickname I got after adopting a writer's alias called "Crawford Tillinghast" from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. I always pronounced the "Craw-" part as "Crow". So they shortened the name to "Crow-ghast". I thought it had a nice ring to it so I kept the name.

"Sight" is another name I use frequently, usually spelling it as "Syte". I chose it as part of a funny research thing I was doing with conspiracies and the Illuminati. I thought it sounded "myster~ious" back then. I dunno.

My absolute favorite and my most often used alias is Mürkir, I usually use it as an online game tag. I came up with it as a cool sounding Norse God-esque name.

Finally is a name from a LONG time ago on a forum on an old website I can't be bothered to remember the name of. I use it sometimes but I like to keep it stowed in the back of my head. It was "Dimokovich Dvorak". I had a bizarre fixation on Russian and Slavic cultures in general

When I played halo for the first time there was a player named Rune and I just liked the name. So I started using it, but I didn't want to just steal their name, so I added something. Some people would resort to 1 or 01 but i decided to get creative. So the name Rune342 was born.

It was a spare Gamertag of my brother's that he was going to use for an Oblivion character of the same name. I liked it and it stuck. Before this one I jumped around usernames, this is my first regular one.

WlknCntrdiction

Came about about the start of the year, I realised that I was Black(shut up)and that my surname is White, and I put the two together, it helped that my favourite song is Green days' Walking Contradiction which helped my thinking process abit. I shortened the name because I tried to use it for my xbox live gamertag but it would only take 15 characters, I took out enough letters so that it would fit and people would still be able to understand what it said, and WlkCntrdiction was born:D

Recently though I've not been using it as much, I've been using(and called)Mattman alot more, think that'll be my next one.

Back in ye olden days of gold the first game I played that required a character name for anything other than a savefile was a MUD by the name of Materia Magica (AKA: Moongate). I was still too young for forum browsing so I was stuck at the name entry field for quite some time until I just picked some randomly suggested one.

My race gave me the ability to shapeshift, so my signature form gradually became a scruffy wolf. A certain southern belle would refer to me as her "Wolvieolvieroos" so when I decided I wanted a new character I just picked Wolvie because at the time I didn't think I was going to keep it long enough to matter. Lulz were on me though as it was my favorite character ever and I eventually got around to archoning (level 241+) him.

So I got quite sick of the terrifying x-men girly wolverine fanfic references and my next character was Wolvaroo. And that stuck. As far as I know I'm the only Wolvaroo anywhere aside from once when my WoW guild rolled alts to mess around on another server and someone tried to imitate me...

Edit: Though sadly when I tried to recover my old xbox gamertag for my 360 I found out the credit card I used at the time was no longer existing, so there was no way to claim it even though the operator on the phone acknowledged that she had enough information to prove I was the owner. So for xbl I'm now Unexceptional. I just wanted something that sounded unique and was along the lines of Mediocre.

Well, I was looking through the unused gamer tag list for XBL, and I saw on there the tag "rotten milk", then my mom says "rotten butter"(because for some reason I said butter a lot back then). So I tried it, and it worked. I continue to use it because it's just so random, I know no one else would have it.

Apparently young girls whom fantasize about wolverine write fanfics in which they call him Wolvie.
