Where have all the Jazz Women gone?

To expand on the title:

I'm single and from Manchester, I love culture of all forms and I'm a massive Jazz fan. All the women in Jazz seem to have vanished. What on Earth is going on?

Well, jazz has been male-dominated (most genres are/were) from the beginning and with fewer people listening to jazz nowadays that means there are going to be even less women involved in the scene/subculture.

They're all in the nightclubs listening to cheezy pop and R&B i'm afraid. Trust me, it would be nicer if jazz were more popular and there were more girls into it, but music genres rise and fall. Fortunately, they virtually never go extinct.
