Where the hell is the next Half-life?

I did not really check the internet for facts here intensely, but how long has it been?

I mean, cliffhangers are fine and all and that whole episode format seemed to be pretty cool considering the length of said episodes (plus nice gimmicks such as Portal in the Orange Box), but I can hardly remember who was hung above what cliff and where on earth that cliff was.

Now don't get me wrong - I appreciate the good storytelling, the lovingly designed characters and the fine mix of action and tension and I can only guess how much work, time and money must have gone into that so far, but they have already been talking about Half-life 3 and here I was thinking that they might have missed a little episode there.

Does anyone still care?

I've been waiting for EP 3 since the second one came out, but I haven't heard anything at all. I'm not sure but I think the only thing Valve's released on it is some concept art. It's been almost 3 years, there has to be something they're planning on showing soon...but then again this is Valve I'm talking about.

I care but I won't think about it again till the next thread like this. It's been years so who says EP 3 isn't palyed to be a flagship on a new Source? Who says EP 3 will be EP 3 and not Half-Life 3 proper? Lets face it there are games happening now, play them and one way or another we will find outif this is Duke Nukem.

Honestly I don't think the game is ever going to come out. Now before you call me some kind of troll think about it, the half-life series in general is one of if not the highest rated game series to ever come out, and the majesty of it keeps valve in epic status amongst valves fans. If valve were to released a negatively reviewed game it could be devastating for them. So they are doing exactly what i would to, release and expand multiple other IP's like Portal, Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress. Add on the fact that an important voice actor is now deceased and i wouldn't expect EP3 to come out for a very long time.

Though thats purely my opinion

Why are you asking us? We're just an internet forum, goddamn it! When it comes out, you'll know. Until then just play TF2 or the other Half-Lives or maybe watch a movie. Or just keep making threads complaining about it like every other person does.

I think they've long finished the core game and are now editing to absolute perfection. They're saying it's not being announced/not being made to build suspense. Making everyone wait for longer while they get every line of dialogue right, every gameplay aspect fun and great, every sound effect, every little thing right. So they'll suddenly announce it, everyone goes "OMGWTFWOW!" and soon after they release it as a nigh-on flawless game, cementing their status' as the best game developers.
Ok I may have gone a bit crazy there, but now I think about it it may be? Just wondering.

It would be really funny if they released Ep 3 without anyone knowing. Imagine your face if you were to walk into your local game store and you see episode 3 for sale, or you log on to steam and see that it is out and ready to download.
