I'll go into detail at some point in the future, but yadda yadda I want to head back to college for 1 year to learn this certain trade. Financial Aid doesn't cover the school I want to go to so I'm having to face getting a loan. I have no debt aside from a small amount of credit card debt.

So I'm wondering what are the best places to get one? I've read some bad things about Sally Mae.

I have 14k in Sally Mae loans, that was nearly 10 years ago and I have yet to make a large enough salary to get off deferment. Deferment basically allows you to pay at will or not at all while the government takes care of your interest.

Really you just gotta eat it, it sucks, it'll hurt your credit and even if you find a decent job right out of college you'll still be trying to break even trying to rid yourself of the loan.

On the brightside student loan debt exceeds 1 trillion dollars right now, so it is possible student loan assistance will grow by the time you get your diploma.

Got student loan. Graduated.

Bought crappiest car ever. Made payments to loan just like if I would've owned a new car within my career pay range.

Never bothered me actually

Really, really depends on country. I got the accumulated year's worth for summer, and got vague plan to start paying it back during upcoming school year.
