I know how it is, there are so many games that deserve sequels or reboots/remakes.
But lets talk about the ones that don't.
Like a game that ended perfectly or one that sucked right from the start.

Let's hear those opinions.

As for me, Bomberman: Act Zero 2 and Brink 2 That's all I got for now.

Eternal Sonata. It wasn't a bad game, but it was the very first thing to come to mind when I read the topic title. I really have no idea why, but there you go.

Final Fantasy games. seriously, I love those games to death, but, they don't need sequels.

Halo 3. as much as i love the series, i feel no need to continue it, least of all start a new trilogy.

Eternal Darkness - I don't think a sequel to this game could ever live up to the fans expectations. It's probably best to keep them wanting.

Yeah defiantly this, it tied up it's own story and had no real potential for a sequel. Maybe a spin off where you play as Beethoven or something.

Bioshock 2 probably didn't need to happen. The first was a perfectly fine self-contained story.
In a perfect world, I would have spliced (see what I did there?) Bioshock 2's refined gameplay with Bioshock 1's story.

Halo 1
Fable 1
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Battle Field: Bad Company 1
Stronghold 1
Age of empires 2
WoW vanilla (If exspantions count)
Bioshock 1
Mass effect 1
Dragon Age: Origins
Assasons Creed 1
Zelda: Orcrina of Time
Metal Gear Solid: III
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Left 4 Dead 1
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Red Faction: Guerilla
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

The series should have ended at these titles, no more should have ever been made. Also note I am only posting good games, if the game was crap to start with (Brink) I wont list it.

Ill think of more later.

Hmm... in the "complete as it is" corner, Planescape: Torment. A sequel would lessen the impact.

In the "this is terrible and should be left in a hole and forgotten" corner, Other M. Future Metroid games should just pretend that one didn't exist.

Most games.

Most developers make the first game as a feeling device to gauge interest, then actually try the second time. If people bought that one too, the inevitable third game typically jumps the shark, as they learned in their subscription to Saturation Magazine, and often kills off the fanbase in the process. Cue the re-imagining a few years later.

Anyway. The point is that most series would have been best if they just put all of their effort into the first game and left it at that. I can see why they often don't (and in rare cases, they just aren't genuinely able to), but that doesn't make it less annoying for us as consumers to sift through the rough until we find the diamonds.

I could get behind that. I liked the change to hacking in the sequel, among other things. If anything though, Bioshock 2 should have just been an expansion pack. And I don't mean that as an insult or anything... I miss the epic expansion packs we used to get back in the day, not like this crappy 'extra 30 minutes of gameplay and some costume color swaps' DLC that we see now trying to call themselves expansions. It would be nice to see a return of the epic expansion packs, rather than rushed and ultimately unsatisfying sequels.

Nobody should ever have to experience a Darkest of Days 2. Not after Frodo cast it back into the fires from whence it came.

Seriously though, perhaps lower the price on the game next time and improve EVERYTHING about it and then MAYBE God, Satan, and Cthulu will allow a sequel to that game.
