You have on the right, cult movies. Cult Films have limited but very special appeal. Cult films are usually strange, quirky, offbeat, eccentric, oddball, or surreal, with outrageous, weird, unique and cartoony characters or plots, and garish sets. They are often considered controversial because they step outside standard narrative and technical conventions. They can be very stylized, and they are often flawed or unusual in some striking way, such as:

The Warriors
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Clerks
Fight Club
Natural Born Killers
The Crow
Mad Max
Ghostbusters
Labyrinth
The Usual Suspects
Se7en

And on the left, movies that do really well in the box office. Get nominated and win awards such as:

District 9
Invictus
Avatar
The Blind Side
Crazy Heart
The Dark Knight
The Departed
The Godfather(I&II)
Lord of the Rings(I,II&III)

For me, I actually like the cult movies better. They always seem to grab my attention more offten than the ones that do well in the box office.

Well, it depends on the film itself. I hate Avatar, yet love Lord of the Rings. I also hate Labrynth, yet love the Warriors.

I just like good movies. The way I see it, if it is an entertaining or insightful experience then why should I care if it was a big budget film or not?

Just recently watched Fight Club and was suprised when it lived up to the hype

Personally cult movies are usually more entertaining but it really does depend on the movie. Alot of the movies you've chosen for both categories are good but you'll find alot more bollocks in the box office hits.

I find myself leaning towards the popular movies just because your list includes Lord of the Rings. But I do enjoy many cult movies so it's just a matter of what the movie is actually about.

Boondock Saints is a cult flick, right? That movie was awesome.

I like movies. In fact, I like every movie on both of your lists.

So... screw this. I won't choose.
Put me in this column too. I love movies, and most of the time I really enjoy all that I see. Except for Expendables... oh god that was terrible.
