do you prefer the sci-fi space setting of Fallout 3/Mass Effect or the Medeival setting of Oblivion and Dragon Age, or some other setting (although i'm pretty sure no other exists).

personaly i prefer the medieval setting with dragons and swords. i don't know why, it's just a preferance.

so tell me word readers, which do you prefer?

I love both, actually. I'm a Sci-Fi geek, but in gaming I also adore the fantasy settings. Impossible to pick, in my case.

I'm really starting to get bored of the medieval setting, I like space and post apocalyptic but my favourite is the high-tec fantasy world similar to FFX and FF13.

I absolutely adore World of Warcraft style fantasy, and by that I mean, Medieval with a fair chunk of "impossible" unrealism thrown in, it is Fantasy after all.

I wouldn't call Fallout 3 a 'space setting'. You can't really compare Fallout's post-apocalyptic setting with Mass Effect's space-opera setting.

On topic, I don't prefer any one type of setting. As long as the setting is well-done, I don't care if it's a space opera, sword-and-sorcery, real world, or anything else.

Hard to pick, I like Sci Fi and Fantasy but this is pretty hard to pick.

Sod it now you made me want to play The Longest Journey.

In games I prefer the scifi settings like Mass Effect but I prefer the fantasy settings in books and movies. That seems strange to me

I like all kinds of different settings, but the medieval fantasy setting is one of my favorites.

There is only one fantasy setting: Middle earth
There are two sci-fi settings: Utopian Federation and Rusty Post-Apocolypse

This is a difficult question to answer.

I suppose I like both settings provided they are executed well although the super-macho Western high fantasy atmosphere is usually harder to pull off well.

I was completely mislead by this title, so i'm just going to stick to my guns and say the office setting

Hi-tech but not in space.
I believe the term you are looking for is Cyberpunk [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk]. A setting which I rather like myself.

I've always preferred Sci-Fi well over Medieval settings. There's far more variety and potential with Sci-Fi because the options presented are so vast. But typical fantasy seems to have this issue with re-producing the same things over and over again, very rarely do you see much that seems to stray from the beaten path of dwarfs and elves.

Sure you can say a lot about Sci-Fi is the same, but the ratio of really unique sci-fi worlds to unique fantasy worlds is much higher.

The whole Orcs, Eves and Dwarfs fantasy setting makes me fall asleep.....zzzz.....they lack much imagination and always revolve around the same clichés.

It depends on my mood, both are great in their own way.

But I'll go with Sci-Fi because it is more inventive than fantasy.
