Which tablet should I get?

I'm heading off to University in the fall and I have some extra spending money so I was looking into getting a tablet. I'm leaning towards an iPad 2 right now but I'm not sure if an iPad 3 will be released in the near future. The Android powered tablets on the market right now are all very technically impressive but I have had bad experiences with Android in the past. My question is, should I get an iPad 2 (or a competitor) now, or wait for better tablets in the future?

I hate apple products because I was not... "raised on them". Get a recent one that HAS AN EASILY USABLE WORD PROCESSOR. Also one that has very few problems with its cooling system. My fugitsu has severe problems with ram and its cooling system. I think a component in it has completely fried because of the fan which is always now running at full speed. Read some online reviews from unbiased sources to be honest.
