Which tablet should I get?

I'm heading off to University in the fall and I have some extra spending money so I was looking into getting a tablet. I'm leaning towards an iPad 2 right now but I'm not sure if an iPad 3 will be released in the near future. The Android powered tablets on the market right now are all very technically impressive but I have had bad experiences with Android in the past. My question is, should I get an iPad 2 (or a competitor) now, or wait for better tablets in the future?

My question is, do you NEED a Tablet (and what for) or is it just for the looks?

if its for aesthetics, you're better off buying a laptop.

There will definitely be an iPad 3, it' the way of things.

However if you want an iPad now, go for the 2.

Depending on what you need/want a tablet to do, it's probably fairly obvious whether you want an Apple or an Android, or even a Netbook or Laptop PC.
