In the wake of the announcement of the Halo anime series, I was pondering if the gaming medium would translate well to the style of anime.

I personally think there is a lot more depth that could be given to the Halo universe (and hopefully will be), but Bungie neglected it slightly in favour of blowing shit up, so in this case, yea I think Halo would be a fair choice to make into an anime.

So what other games do you think would make the transition particularly well, or not, and why?

And even if it would be rubbish, what game would you like to see as an anime?

Judging by the direction that the Halo anime seems to be taking, no good game should ever be an anime, ever.

I wouldn't mind if the Devil May Cry anime restarted, and I'd also like to see a Fire Emblem anime, with the characters of Fire Emblem 6 and 7.

What about the books. They weren't only about blowing stuff about.

As far as what game should be made into an anime? The Front Mission series would make an awesome animated series, the first game had great characters and an interesting plot.

And for one random silly fan-boy nipple tweaker: HALF-LIFE!

Crap I completely forgot about the Devil May Cry anime as well. I really liked that too. The second one I ever watched. If they did another 12 episodes or something I'd so buy it.

No good games have been made into anime yet.

I don't think games should ever be made into anime. The only relationship games and anime should have is when they've done been developed from a manga.

I can't really comment on them, I haven't read them. I've been urged to read "Fall Of Reach" by a friend who recommends it, but I don't have too much patients for literature anymore.

Do they actually give the Chief a character in the books?

Wouldn't mind seeing an Armoured Core anime animated by Sunrise after their recent success with both Gundam 00 and Code Geass. Not to say they're the only animation company which can do mecha (because they're not) but I'd like to see how they'd handle it.

I could see a Metal Gear Solid anime happening at some point as well, though how good that would be remains to be seen.

Well it shows his back story and how he came to be the Master Chief. If your asking if he has any emotion, well not that much.

Suppose that could be interesting to check out.

Not even emotion, just any kind of personality traits that could be attributed to him, other than just being fearless or stupidly lucky and knowing it. He just seems like too much of a blank slate to be considered a truly great protagonist, and it may be one of the things that lets the Halo anime down a bit.

Megaman X (and Megaman)
Too mention a few.
There's already been a Megaman anime released on TV [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_(TV_series)] a while back.

It wasn't great.

Hmmmm... Well these are a few: Hitman (series) I don't know why, but I think that something like that would actually work exceedingly well, so long as they don't do it like the movie did; God of War, seems epic enough to me to work; Fallout 3, again I feel that this would work exceedingly well if it were done properly, the only thing is, that they should make a new story in a different location, however folowing the same basic principles and in the same universe; lastly War of the Monsters, there is no way that couldn't work really, there was so little story to the game that they could make up whatever they wanted and it would still seem plausible to me, and there are very few better ways to portray giant things beating the shit out of eachother than anime.

Okami, Madworld, No More Heroes, and maybe the Legend Of Zelda (I'm aware that a manga exists, but I think a well-animated action series would do it appropriate justice).

Well if that were they case I would like to see the original Metal Gear games, rather than any of the Metal Gear Solid ones.

Oblivion, I would love to see Zukan the wacky jumpy crazy Argonian appear with his own series.

Actually better example, Mass Effect. If it goes exactly how I played the game (Wrex lives and becomes Shepard's best Friend, Ashley becomes the Lover etc) then it would be a spectacle to behold.

And while it's true that the Halo anime is focussed a lot on action (I'm more concerned that it'll disregard the Alien perspective set up in Halo 2 and just launch into the 'humans is awesome aliens is not' plot established by Halo Wars, However there was a brief indication that they do showcase the Arbiter so odds are they are going to) one must remember that action sells. So odds are they used a trailer like that to hook the audience and there is a deep side behind it, once must wait and see.
I don't hold hopes too high but you never know with this one.
