Thinking about it, I play almost exclusively female characters in Overwatch. D.Va, Mercy, Orisa and most recently, Sombra. No real reason why, but I play them more than male characters.

Also, welcome to the forums. We need some new blood for the weekly sacrifice we make to Defy to keep the site running...I, ahem, I mean...

If I have the option, I always try to make myself so I always play as a dude. Generally a blond haired, blue eyes, goatee guy who is more muscly and sexy than I am in real life but damn it, let me have this one!!!!

I always play a female character if the game has that male/female option. I don't like ranged characters in RPGs so that's one case where I'll just play as some Paladin Barbarian Knight Warrior Dude if the only female option is the archer/sorceress/whatever. There's no real reason behind it. Usually in a RPG you get more customization options if the character is female and that's fun to play with. Maybe on a more subconscious level I do it because for the most part game protagonists are essentially the exact same guy when it comes to looks, same haircut, same square jaw, same stubble, etc., but it's not something I'm actively thinking about when I start a new game.

I've been told from some guys that like to play as females that it's because it's more pleasant to the eye. I don't get that, though. Most of the time you'll be looking at the world around your character, or straight through their eyes. No time to ogle at their ass or other assets... you have NPCs for that.

Personally, i like to make things varied a little. I've been playing 3 games that have character creator recently. In 2 of them as a chick.

I always play female characters in video games if i have the option. I don't exactly know why. I think i also have slightly more female charcters in tabletop RPGs but it is closer to parity there.

I always pick the female option, don't know why for sure but maybe it's because for games which don't have the option, you tend to see much more male protagonists so I'm balancing it out.

Or that I never really see myself in any player character, and I always view them as characters I just happen to be in the perspective of. And since I'm attracted to women, I'd rather be looking at one for hours on end rather than a man.

Or maybe it's an extra layer of escapism, I tend to not play as human when given a chance either.

I disagree. You can always walk your character into a corner and take all the time in the world to look at their... high quality textures.

I don said:
Every male secretly wants to be a cute girl and wear cute accessories and frilly things.
Maybe that's true for me...? I dunno, but I do like dressing my female characters up in what I think looks good on them. Whether that's heavy armor, light armor, clothes, or whatever else depends on the character's class/gameplay/other things probably.

And yes, I do like having a female form to look at while I play games. I may not really look at or see my character much depending on the game, but when I do I'd rather look at a female.

But hey, at least I don't pretend to actually be female to get other players to give me stuff or something. :p

Because I like to see eye candy on the screen. Also, it feels badass when you play as a girl and you obliterate everything.

Nah I always play as a dude, they are physically superior and usually have better looking armors and such.

Am confused by the question and context, is this bot talk? Bottalk?

Eh, I always lean towards female rogue stabbsy McStealth 'n hide. It's a grim compulsion at this point because males are often the blandest and I need to have my cowardly stealth options as open as possible.

Most people have already mentioned the eye candy and the whole reality fugue.
Wild stab in the dark: a lot of people just do it to tilt opponents they imagine as sexist.
