Two part discussion coming. So im having a fire the other night and im looking at the flames and im thinking wow its just beyond words, mind blowing. Its like fire will consume anything and it don't matter were it came from, what it was used for or what it was suppose to be as long as it will burn it will continual consume it. So part one done.
So the next part is when u look at a dieing fire and it emits that orangeish reddish look and I, PERSONALLY, think wow its just like life, no matter what u do, it will always go out sure u add more fuel to the fire but eventually it WILL go out no mater what.

So what im trying to say is fire is like life.

So anyone els think the same or similar or am i talking out my arse...

Question: were you on drugs when you were watching this fire?

And as an answer: yes it can be used as a very vague metaphor. And I do mean VERY vague because according to the definition of life (7 properties) fire is coherent with none of those except one (maybe). Reproduction: A fire can create another fire that is not directly linked to the first fire. So yea...

Odd fact: Crystals are conform with 4 out of 7 properties for life. And a hinny (according to google translate thats what its called o_O I'm referring to the breed between a donkey and a horse) is only coherent with 6/7 properties of life. Because it cannot reproduce.

Sounds to me like someone might be a budding pyromaniac :p but as the post above says you can relate pretty much anything to "life" if you apply enough metaphors to it :)

Eh, it's a very old simile/metaphor. See greek myth of the phoenix.

Fire is more of a symbol for destruction because it simply consumes all most everything in it's path but the fire is always there even though there isn't any fire because fire is the very fast movement of the particles.

This sounds mighty like stoner philosophising to me. Seemingly deep, but intrinsically bullshit. No offence.

Regardless of what it seems... fire has been considered, historically, analogous to life.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude, it's like, fire is hot, and hot is the opposite of cold, and cold is death, like the corpses I leave in my wake.

I enjoy staring at a fire as much as the next person, to see the colors mixed in, course my thoughts go along the lines of art and color theory rather than deep philosophical reasoning.

Unfortunately, it's a pretty old and worn metaphor for life. That fact that you felt those same feelings, however, could be considered evidence of how true that old metaphor is. I wouldn't say you were 'talking out of your arse', just more experiencing a similar feeling as many others have while staring at a fire.

I personally get quite hypnotised by fire, but I'd say that it's nothing more profound for me than watching a lava-lamp, or a cat grooming.

(Seriously, why is watching a cat groom so hypnotising?!)
