This just happened to me today for the first time. In my case I just watched the escapist video about cataclysm and got really excited to see what was going on. So I hopped on battlenet and resubscribed. I opened up the WoW updater and let it do its thing till it was ready to play. Now it was time to get in some WoW for the first time in like 4 months. Fuuuuuck! It's Tuesday morning!

I pay attention to the day of the week, so it has never happened to me before. Sure, I've been upset when I know Monday night that I can't play for a while tomorrow, but I always know when they're doing maintenance.

When I first joined, except I didn't know about the regular down time. I asked here and everyone just face palmed me. They face palmed me *hard*.

Calumon: I wasn't around then... I got Jack off WoW! ^^

My friends have been bugging me to open up my account in time for Cataclysm.

I'm not sure. But I might do it, I'm running out of games to replay.

You picked both sort of a bad and good day to resubscribe. Today is the day they apply the cataclysm world changes to the game so that's a good thing. (depending on one's perspective of course since it brings a few nerfs along with it) It's also as you mentioned Tuesday and regular maintenance day, however since this one of those rather monumental patches (not very big only about 30megs) its a fair guess to say maintenance could end up being extended due to the unforeseen problems that tend to crop up when translating the patch from a test server to all of the live servers (more servers means a bigger chance something will break)

As with any major patch, its probably a good idea to just not log on the first day if you don't want to deal with the inevitable bugs and such.

Nope... What happened to me is that all of these magazines got me excited for Cata so I resubbed again. I played for about two months and now I can't stand it anymore, again. Right before Cata is released, too. I've been playing since Vanilla, but I'm doomed to never live an expansion...

i've been feeling this as well, but i haven't played for i think around 2 years. i hit level 80 and pretty much just quit out of boredom and frustration with the game and it's community. my inability to get into groups as a DPS player, the extreme focus on gear, the quest repetition, the grinding on dailies while i futilely waited in the LFG channel and so on just killed it for me.

i am on the fence about rejoining just to see how the world has changed, but i struggle if that is worth it. but like you, i am growing tired of re-playing games i already own and if i purchase any new games on my holiday wish list before the christmas holiday, i am pretty sure my wife will murder me.

Nope, I pay attention to the weekday too. I think I may have to resubscribe though in spite of unsubscribing because money is a bit tight right now. I want to finally make the human hunter I've been wanting for six years.

Oh yeah, tell me about it. I played a lvl 80 Belf Warlock in a hardcore raiding guild: the pressure was ON.

And the LFG channel is horrific, it could take two hours to find a healer for the Daily.

... On second thought I might wait to start playing until I've gathered enough info that can convince me it's worth it.

I've had that happen with me, but also you have a butt load of data to download - basically all of Cataclysm, as they pre-patched all the game data with 4.0.1.

I can't wait to level 1-60 in the new world though. Completely updated quests, music, dungeons, and environments, I say, "yes please!" But, my favorite part of WoW is leveling - the gear grind when I hit 80 is a lot less fun once I've done it on one character 8)
