And willing to admit that they like PewDiePie?
While the bile he's received over the years has certainly diminished a great deal on this site, it still seems he has a sort of negative connotation when he's mentioned. And I don't really get why. Okay, having built the biggest channel on one of the largest entertainment outlets of the century by just playing video games when there's so much better stuff that requires so much more effort is kind of... ehh, but I don't really get what there is about him that people hate so much.
I like that he's self-aware about his position and the kind of content he's made his name on. I like that he knows how he and his audience are stereotyped. I like how he doesn't fall into the trap of becoming an obnoxious "Ooooh my fans r the best I luv u" attention whore. I like how he still puts effort into his content despite being able to basically quit for life at any moment. I like that despite his fame he's still firmly grounded in reality (or at least does a hell of a job convincing me of it) and doesn't get caught up in online drama or lost in his online persona. I like how he doesn't mindlessly follow online trends (as can be evidenced by this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLCUAPsUcoQ] video) and when he does, he makes fun of it. I like how uncynical he is about his material and is clearly doing what he loves. I like how one of the biggest online entertainers in the world isn't a spineless corporate whore or a vapid egomaniac, but an intelligent and down to earth normal dude.
As for discussion value, there's the question I posed in the title. What other opinions do you have that go against the general consensus?
