Who else is disguisted by children nowadays?

In culture nowadays, children younger and younger are wearing more 'adult' clothes *cough*slutty*cough* (tank tops, mini-mini-skirts, expencive looking jewlery, push up bra's etc.) they are getting everything they want faster (I'm only 21... Me and all my friends had to wait untill 16 or so before we got a mobile phone. I saw a 7 year old crying to their mum to get them their SECOND mobile and while car shopping) and the expectation of people seems to be that children will grow up at their own rate, that because the parents etc. are getting older, they are thinking "oh they are just growing up VERY fast!"

NO. They arn't 'just growing up very fast', they are seeing that all of that sort of thing is kool and awesome, and they want it and don't want to wait. With the lack of boundries set up they GET it.

Now, as they are growing up faster... that must mean their schooling is improving, and as such that generation is going to be SUPER smart and stuff.

once again... NO.
I know, I'm only 21, I'm not old enough to complain about these young'ens yet. But they are REALLY begging for it. I have a friend, 17, doing VCE this year (year 12, the final year of schooling to say "I passed school/highschool" in Victoria.) She is currently doing work I did in year 8. Luckily, she is smart enough to know that she is smarter then that and is disguisted by the stupidity of her class mates aswell (including her teachers) but my point about this paragraph... Children are being taught at a slower rate then previously. They have no expectations of them and are just being idiots.

Bah anyway, my point about all of this crap is to ask a simple question.
Are you disapointed in the way that children are being brought up nowadays?
If you had a child, do you think you would bring them up like all the other parents are doing latley? (as an honest question to yourself, because you don't PLAN to let your kids grow up like that) Or would you go along with children being a secondary if nor 5th level priority in your life throwing money at them to keep them silent and hope that tv/video games/movies/music etc. can do a good enough job?

*wants to add more, like an analogy to parents being pissed off with all of those forms of media in a manner similar to a rich person being angry at a nanny who is doing a poor job... but has already written too much*

Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers.
Socrates
Greek philosopher in Athens (469 BC - 399 BC)

This is nothing new. Don't concern yourself about it, every generation thinks the one below them is going off the rails and it doesn't happen.

I don't know any small kids apart from a few relatives', so I could only answer from hearsay.
If I'm calculating correctly, though this would now be the first group of children that weren't brought up by people but by Teletubbies, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Yes, I agree completely. You think you're too young at 21? I'm 16 and I hate it. Especially the clothing and attitude of these little runts. I had to wait for stuff my kids will damn well do the same. I've noticed either parents are far too liberal with their kids (I saw kids no older than 12 drinking cider on a street corner the other night) or too protective as in "No Timmy! Don't do that, you might get hurt and can never experience the world because of me, your thicko paret"

It's all bloody annoying. I remember when adults were adults and kids were kids. Now kids are trying to be adults and adults are trying to be kids. No wonder the world's going to shit.

Rant over, I can relax again :)

Im only 16 and i am too. The years below us in school are a bunch of cocky little twats who need a good slap round the face to teachthem some respect. I remeber whe ni was in year 7/8/9 you took a wide berth when it came to sixthformers.
I didnt get my first phone till about 12, and then only because it was a used one going cheap. I broke that when it fell out of my pocket and just died and got a new one which i still have and intend to keep till it stops working.

Very true, children stay the same. I mean, they're kids, this is normal. The real problem is how parents deal with it. Someone else on this forum named the current generation of parents the "We just can't say no!" generation. And I guess that's pretty damned right.
I have a friend, she's 15, already smokes for 3 (!) years, already drinks a lót every now and then for over 3 (!) years, she already got abused once because she passed out from drinking! She was 13 at the time! She also gets almost everything she wants, expensive clothes, a drivers licence when she's old enough, a scooter/moped when she's old enough. I really just couldn't beleive her stories, and she still beleives that her parents raise her properly. Makes me só angry on this society.

PS: I'm only 18, and even my own parents think I sound like an irritant, bitter old man...

The kid who wanted a second phone apparently lost it. I am geussing cause she whined "I PROMISE I WON'T LOSE THIS ONE MUMMY I PROMISE!!!! I NEED A PHONE TO TALK TO MY FRIENDS!!!!!"

While it's... horendously depressing to live with it... my sister (19-20) is exactly the same (loud spoiled brat... especialy loud) so while it's depressing to live with it... it's sort of comforting? To have the thought that all humanity is just this damned retarded. (Ditto for adding the Socrates quote)

Yes, I realised this with the year 7/8s in my school.
They mouth off to me in year 12, when I was that age, I wouldn't dare back chat a sixth former!

Bring back the cane!

Depends on what level of socio-economic status you're talking about, because some of the lower ones have had trouble being parents and raising kids for years, statistical rates of teen pregnancies and the like can be used to demonstrate that rather easily.

I still think these sorts of rants are cyclical, that every generation blames others for the way they're turning out but in the end nothing comes of it.

I have plenty of nieces and nephews the eldest is my nephew who is 13. He had a cellphone but proved irresponsable with it and it was taken away. Other than that no of them have cellys. My brothers and I grew up poor. I don't see these kids being spoiled. They don't get whatever they want and begging/threatening/crying usually results in a spanking. Yes, they all spank. Whatever this is nebraska where we're still somewhat allowed to use discipline one advantage of a red state I suppose.

Dude, you're a sixth former! Beat the little shit up. I'm only in Year 11 but when some oik mouths me or my mates off we bloody well go over there and see how brave he is when he's half a foot away from us rather than down the corridoor.

It's especially funny when they're yelling obscenities with an unbroken voice.

Not a day goes by where I don't find myself despising every motherfrakker in my high school that wants to call themselves 'students.' They're loud, noisy, obnoxious, they repeat the same asinine stunts in class five seconds after the teachers tell them not to, they don't get in trouble as often as they should, they're obsessed with Twitter/facebook/myspace when they should be focusing on their work, and I get provoked and harassed by plenty of these- pardon my French- retards daily, so I have ample reason to want to hate them.

Believe me, you're not alone in thinking that kids these days can be assholes.

Heres a fun game to play (introduced to me by my female friend in year 12)

She sits on the bus. Skanky mc-hoeho sits across her talking to her friend. C cup tits at 14 or something and showing them off with a VERY low cut top.
My friend STARES at them.
The girl whispers with her friend... her shirt goes up a little bit.
My friend continues to STARE
They whisper again... it goes up a little more
once again... STARE
... up a little more to cover the boobage to a decent level.
my friend looks away. Mission accomplished

The two girls sitting opposite my friend leave the bus and as they are leaving comments "perv..."

This would be a very fun game to play, however at the last 'goodbye' should the person comment on your perving, you comment on their ultra-slutty appearance, tip your (imaginary?) hat, and ignore them. They can't argue the fact they look like a slut... or that you were staring at their tits. THEY WERE RIGHT THERE INFRONT OF YOU what were you going to do? NOT stare at what the girl was obviously SO proud of? that would be an insult to her! "OMG I'm getting NO attention!... better slut up a bit more"
Granted you can't argue that you got a good perve out of it... but hey, whatever who cares! you got a good look at a pair of tits, and you potentialy stopped the girl from getting raped! (should she have learned her lesson and decided then on to be less... 'glass store front window' with her good on display that is)

i dont like my generation tbh

I am 16 and i am currently doing my alevels at my school. (Maths further maths Physics and Chemestry. I go to private school so most of the people i know (there) are clever as well but most of them are still completly sluts (to be blunt) or at least dress slutty.

I know of pretty much everyone in the school (down to about 13/14) having parties getting completly wasted and doing something stupid.

Sorry i kinda went off the point of my post there.. :p

Worst is: she's such a sweetheart, she helped me get through so many crap, and yet she's spoiled and fucks herself up almost unchecked. It's heart breaking. The first girl who ever acted like that to me, who really cared not just out of pity. And then thát happens to her, awfull. She went from being a shining beacon of hope (when I still didn't know about all that), in the sense of that she showed me that it's not all that crap, to living proof from the crappyness of today's (westren) society.

Well, seeing that she gets all kinds of expensive stuff, her socio-economic status isn't exactly low. But it's true though, those from the lower parts of society end up on the streets, roaming around. It seems that the óther side of the spectrum, the more wealthy kids (well she's not thát wealthy), while not suffering from the same problems, do end up with comparable results: endulging themselfs in all sorts of crap, end up without certain skills, fuck themselfs up, things like that.

I still think these sorts of rants are cyclical, that every generation blames others for the way they're turning out but in the end nothing comes of it.
I think that's very true, instead of working together, everyone just blaims everyone/everything. There is no cooperation, but there is also a lack of acknowledgement of certain problems. I get constantly told how I shouldn't worry so much, that there aren't any problem, that it'll all work out alright. No, not it won't just work out allright, you have to work for that, but noooo they won't do thát.

Yeap, that strange duality: I'm proud of what I have and like to show it off, but if I get attention because of it they're pervs. I wonder though, did he stare at the boobs or at her? Did he frown? I would frown, and keep staring, switching between her boobs and her face, sometimes making the "tsk tsk tsk" head movement, but no sound.

I really hate my generation, most of us are spoiled brats who complain about a job like they're getting their arm pulled off for minimum wage. My parents made me do this Damn Marshmallow test where i start with 2 marshmallows. I could wait for 30 minutes and get another, or just eat them now. I waited for them and BOOM easy marshmallow.
