The first controller for the black brick (aka, the original xbox).
A colossal controller that felt indestructible and only people with hands the size of small planets could weild it!!
I miss it and wish microsoft would re-release it for the 360 )

I still used one while at Halo 2 lan parties. People seemed to side with you more in the occasional after battle bickering when you held a pound of plastic at the end of a long cord.

Since I have aforementioned planet hands (that's no moon... its a thumbnail!) I personally loved the Duke. I remember having played the xbox for a month before popping in a new ps 2 game and feeling the strange sensation of having to handle my dualshock like it was a kitten for fear of breaking it.

Please see Yahtzee's rant about nostalgia. There's nothing great about that controller, it's just old. There's a reason it was redesigned so promptly. It was crap.

That being said, I'm sure in 20 or 30 years it will be some pathetic excuse for a collectors item. Hope you didn't actually take it out of the packaging.

I thought this was about duke nukem, i was sorely mistaken :(
Same here, I miss the talented Mr. Nukem very dearly.

The old Xbox controller, however, was just a controller so I didn't really get that attached to it.

I didn't mind the size. What I didn't like was the weird angle of the action buttons. On the other hand, I did appreciate that it offered 6 action buttons on its face in a nice 3 by 2 line-up. It was reminiscent of the Saturn controller in that respect. The subsequent version relocated the black and white buttons into a barren corner of the controller, before the 360 exterminated them altogether.
