But in any case, I'll play alomg and say Freddie Mercury. Hey, just because his music is from over 20 years ago doesn't mean it isn't pop music. Also, the phrases "pop star" and "pop music" just grate with me. It sounds like how someone who doesn't get an activity would describe it. You know, like an old person trying to be down with the kids.

But seriously, if I had to choose one, I'd have to say Flea. I mean, he's not really a pop-star, but he's very well-known. I know he isn't the best bassist, but he's influenced a whole generation of bassists, the technique he learned off older bassing greats shaping how a lot of us play today.
