I'm pretty sure, barring something like being "Epsteined" Joe Biden is not dropping out. He will be the Democratic Party POTUS nominee. While I think and hope Trump will trounce him, he may win the general. Who he picks to be his VP is more important than at any time of which I can think in memory. Biden is old and appears to be suffering from early onset dementia. He is already above the median age at which white men die. If elected, I think it reasonable he will not last 6 months in office. His VP very well could be the next POTUS.
Who do you think he will pick?
Couple of potential picks:

Straight up surprised to see somebody post a Styx video on here.

But I'm legitimately not sure who they're going to go with at this point. Lots of options to draw from, what with the big crop of contenders in the primaries. As it stands, whoever gets picked is going to be looked at as a potential de facto president, given Biden's...state. So- I got nothing. Don't even see anybody in the running that I'd be willing to throw a vote toward anyway.

That said, the fact that it's even still up in the air at this point says quite a bit, imo.

Well, the pandemic makes things tough, y'know. Biden can't be out and sniffing the hair of potential nominees to vet them.

Fair enough.

I did think there was a minimum age to run for VP and all, but these are trying times.

Gorf does that kinda thing. I only know styx for not being able to handle Destiny even on a 1v5 against Desinty.

Biden said he would nominate a woman to be VP, but other than that I haven't really been paying attention to it since ultimately it doesn't matter. I'm going for Biden because trump is the fucken worst most corrupt president we have ever had and giving him another 4 years would just be rewarding his ugly ass.

He's not above the median life expectancy for rich white men. He's got nearly ten years left by that measure.

I thought the stories were that he checked women out by touch.

It's technically 35 and are a "natural born citizen" as you're required to meet all the requirements to run for president under the constitution (Art II, Sect. 1 for those interested).

Abrams has not been shy about being interested in the VP slot, and Warren and Harris are being tossed around fairly regularly as contenders, as have Sen. Duckworth, Sen. Musto (NV) and Gov. Grisham (NM) depending on who you're speaking to. Biden went out of his way to say he would pick a woman as VP in the March 15 debate with Sanders, and I would expect his advisors to likely hold him to that.

There's a lot of research being reviewed as who would make the greatest tactical decision in terms of elevating turnout (having a racial minority on the ticket may help with black and/or latinx turnout) targeting key states (swing state governor's and senators are often believed to shift a few key points), balancing out the ticket (VPs skills in areas where the nominee is deficient is very commonplace), and exciting base voters (VPs often engage in "red meat" speeches that nominees are recommended to avoid to avoid potential fence-sitting voters). I suspect most if not all of these factors will pay into the decision. If I had to pick four to keep an eye on, it's Abrams, Duckworth, Grisham, and Harris, as most of them can easily hit at least three of the four items that would help Biden in the General.

I think your looking at it the wrong way. Which person would want to run as VP. It's a sinking ship with little hope to win against Trump. I wouldn't touch that if I was paid a million dollars.... but then, you're probably bribed at few million just to join the ticket anyway...

Somebody under the age of 70, please. Preferably under 60. Maybe even under 50.

Can be a stepping stone, a chance to make a real impact, to getting the candidacy next time round.

The Democrats should be thinking about the future, not wringing out the last drips of service from their elders.

I mean, Biden is polling at around 54-56% of votes and most importantly is doing better than Clinton amongs older white voter, the key to win all the mid west state that are needed to flip. Things couldn't realistically look any better for the dems going in. Don't forget Trump won literally by less than 40 000 votes, there's probably more Trump voter that died in the last 4 years than that. The dems are terrible politician, but calling the election for Trump today is complete nonsense, if the election was done tomorrow Biden would walk away easily.

For VP, Warren would be the obvious choice, woman and give a fig leaf to the more extreme left wing. But I don't know if she'd say yes.

The issue is really how well Biden is doing in swing states (e.g. Florida, Pennsylvania), and the answer to that is less well than he's doing nationally. Polls suggest he's about 6% ahead nationally, but down to only ~3% in the swing states. That's squeaky bum territory, especially given that polls this distant are more unreliable, with the real storm and thunder of the election campaign is yet to start.

If he goes into the national debates and starts flubbing it like a confused old man, for instance, those few percent might melt away very quickly. However, I'm not sure how bad it is: some reports seem to suggest his mental wandering has been overstated and only comprises a very small percentage of his air time. The public can be pretty tolerant of occasional stumbles - they'll have a laugh, but they won't change their votes.

If that mattered then trump never would be where he is now. Any issues Biden has, trump has 10 fold, including old man blabbering.

Yeah pretty much, I literally don't see how people are giving Biden so much shit for talking but seem to give trump a 4d chess pass, unless they are just trump supporters trying to pretend not to be.

I honestly do not understand how rewarding Trump, letting people die and eroding the power from the people further is somehow supposed to move the country " left". It makes ZERO sense. Especially when by allowing Trump to win last time has stacked the courts to ensure all new laws the left does pass will have to pass the " right wing courts" in order to become law at all now for the foreseeable future.

I see tons of criticism of everything Democrats do, even when they are doing everything possible to try to help the unemployed being criticized but no viable plans being proposed whatsoever to get these things passed, or to get the majority needed to be able to pass anything. It is like the only answer they have here is " let all those needing help die" and do not do anything to stop it because we have no other options than to try and work with the Republican senate and white house to prevent it from happening. Not everyone here has the luxury to say " all or nothing", because nothing means they will become homeless, they will die, their families will suffer terribly.

I sure as hell am not going to criticize the Dem's begging, bribing and borrowing whatever they have to do to get those people the help they need right now because after coming from a Native American Indian Reservation, my time working with the free Clinic, working at the Women's and children's shelter and working with MSF, I have seen EXACTLY what happens when this gets worse. People will suffer greatly and they will die and the wealthy will turn a blind eye and act like they do not exist or matter or it was somehow their fault and the world goes on without them in it. They are not made stronger by this. They are not empowered to change anything. They just cease to exist in this world because no one would help them and the world forgets them. These people do not have the luxury to sit back and make demands right now.

Some people are accelerationists. They are sure that everyone will see their way and join their ideology if only everything gets bad enough, its like christians thinking that everyone is just a bad day or disease away from embracing Jesus.

I think this is more of from people who a naive or very ideologically driven. Where they either don't understand that id doesn't matter how pure your bill is, if it can't pass then its not really worth the time. For the other side I think they just want things there way or the high way, no negotiation.

It really does seem like some people are just incapable of seeing that moving things in a better direction is important.

Tulsi Gabbard has been the most vocal, anti-forever wars candidate running for POTUS this time around. If I could have anyone I want as Biden's pick, it would be her. If Trump cannot be beaten this time around, maybe this would set her up for 2024.
