I know I am. Im actually really glad that they released this for free because prior to this i had not heard of the metro series and Im glad to be playing now.

So whos enjoying this and who will be supporting the new last light release? personally I will I have a lot of pride for companies and developers that extend this kind of good will.:)

I bought it way back. (You hear me? I was playing Metro before it was cool, damn it!)

It's an alright game. Good sense of setting, if that makes any sense. Not really good enough to justify the full (Australian) price though.

Certainly wasn't good enough to get me to buy Last Light. I'll be waiting for that one to hit the bargain bin. Given the state of the publisher, I doubt that will take long.

there was a facebook page and all you had to do was like it and they gave you a free copy of metro 2033 to promote metro last light.

It didn't work for me, it would redirect me to the facebook home page every time I tried to go on the 2033 page.

Whaaat? Is the promotion still going on or is it closed already? Can't believe I missed it! For which regions was it valid?

Linear, mechanically shoddy clunker with save checkpoints. Hated it. Gorgeous graphics though.

i did a silly thing of installing saints row 3 and got lost in the ultra violent insanity of rolling around the streets squashing people with a giant ball of wool and main battle tank sky diving
Possibly the most juvenile game I've ever played. I am filled with shame every time I load it up. I've got about 30 hours of shame saved up already. Stupidly fun. It's like GTA with even less dignity...

Somehow I ended up buying it 3 times before it got released free, so I just gave the other two copies to people I thought would enjoy it (and had PC's that were up to the challenge of its ridiculous requirements at release).

I really loved it, the atmosphere and voice acting were top notch, and because the story had momentum, it meant that the linearity of the maps worked in the games favour. Back when I first played it, it had some of the best shader work in the engine that I'd seen; following the group of soldiers exploring unused subway tunnels with only dim lamps to illuminate objects looked fantastic.

Awesome game! Unfortunately I already had it on all the platforms and was halfway through the book, so couldn't really take advantage of the deliciously free offer.

I love the guns and the gas-mask sections.

I'm pretty sure I just walk around with the Gas-Mask on anyway, despite knowing it's incredibly stupid to do so because the sounds freak me out and the HUD overlay is cool as hell.[footnote]You don't lose time unless you're actively using the filter/need it to breathe[/footnote] (Brings me back to my 'nam Paintball days) And the cobbled together guns look amazing. I want guns like those ones... I'd just never want to fire one.

It's an enjoyable shooter...

Got it from Facebook about a week ago. Loved every second of it so far.

Mmm, yeah. Wouldn't want a game set in a series of tunnels where we play a scared young adult of questionable sanity micromanaging a hundred things no larger than his finger in five layers of clothing to be linear and clunky, now would we. Damn these developers and their pesky use of game mechanics to enhance immersion and atmosphere.

I'll agree that the checkpoints could have been better, but that was honestly about the only thing about the game I found lacking.

I got the game a year or so ago. It set apart the difference between a fun game and a great game. Metro wasn't that much fun, but damn was it a good game.

My friend, I am perfectly cognizant of mise en scene and the use of mechanics to convey mood in game storytelling. It's sort of irrelevant to me, though, when it makes the game a ripping pain in the ass to actually play. I wouldn't want to play the world's most realistic scurvey simulation and I found I didn't really enjoy playing a "crawl through sewer tunnels battling the UI" simulation either. Which is a shame, because I love post-apoc, and I had high hopes for Metro 2033.

In fairness, it's probably not a terrible game, it's just profoundly not to my tastes. But that's the last time I'm going to be freely admitting that, because by the time I finally turned it off I fucking hated it.

I already got it a while back, and I thought it was excellent. I am looking forward to Last Light, although I'm not sure if I'm going to be paying full price for it.
