I've had a few over the years I've found to be impossible
But I remember most vividly playing pokemon in both heartgold and gold and taking several and I do mean several DAYS to beat Whitney the normal type pokemon trainer.

Who knew a milltank could be that hard to defeat
Bloody rollout.

So who was yours?

Probably the second boss of Ninja Gaiden 2 on the hardest difficulty.
If you don't have your blocking skills up to par, you will get absolutely annihilated.

Its funny, everybody always complains about how hard to beat Whitney is and I end up never having a problem with her.

As for me, I was never able to beat the final boss in Final Fantasy 3 on the DS. I also could never beat Drake of the Elite Four in Pokemon Emerald so I had to restart the whole game because I was so underleveled and had such a weak team.

There is a giant collector floaty reaper thing (not the boss) in ME2 that is fought in the derilect reaper ship level. That thing is super hard because husks come from everywhere forcing you out of cover while that thing rips you apart with its lasers.

If you are referring to the boss in Golden Sun: The Lost Age then you must have forgotten Dullahan. He knows the second most powerful summons which you know it as well and use the dreaded Djinn storm turning your stats weak. To this day I cannot defeat him until Golden Sun: Dark Dawn but I cheated using summons rush tactic (yes I'm weak).

If that's who you fight after finding all the Djinn, then I know nothing of him. I never got around to spending hours looking for the last ones I had missed and I've never found a useful map online to reference.

Yup he is the final boss after you got all the Djinns. Doom Dragon got nothing on Dullaham with his goddamn Djinn Storm spell (It force ALL of your Djinn to resting mode which thereby changing your stats to its weakest state).

Hardest boss I've ever faced? Probably a raid boss from wow. They require enormous levels of coordination between huge numbers of people, not to mention raw stats as well. Even then, everyone tends to die once or twice before you get the strategy right.

In a single player game? I'm not sure. I can usually take a boss down first go, unless he's got some unique mechanic that requires a bit of thought, but I haven't come up against too many really, really difficult bosses.

The Praetorian is why I am no longer playing insanity, as an engineer.

I'll see your Gaxkang and raise you Kangaxx. Having a Demi Lich with, immune to anything but +5 weapons and having unlimited imprisonments = frustrating!

Other than that, Man Eaters from Demon Souls, without using the glitch but then it was more because I keep rolling over the edge of the bridge than actually dying to the monsters. Frustrating, nevertheless.

This. Also Mobius One in Ace Combat Zero. I'm sorry but the ability to shoot missiles at you from any direction is a fucking bullshit move. Also who can forget the superbosses from the Final Fantasy games? The WEAPONS, Ozma, Yaizmat. ALL FUCKING EVIL! (Well I can murder the weapons now but only after I did 4 fucking days of grinding.)

I would say Balrog from Cave Story (Last Boss. As if it wasn't hard enough to even get through the main level...) but I've never even got past the first room so I can't choose him.

I'd have to in this case say Monster X from the same game. SCREW YOU MONSTER X.

Sonic CD, race against metal sonic.

Honestly there were probably some harder battles in sonic (especially earlier games) but this one in particular sticks out in my mind. It was an adrenaline filled race to the death! And i used to be TERRIFIED about being chased in games, ESPECIALLY if i couldn't see where the thing was. Though it didn't help when robotnic (yes Dr. Robotnic. NOT Eggman... idk why they ever ditched a cool name like robotnic for such a silly sounding name) with his giant death laser actually WAS on screen, because then i panicked even more cause i was about to die.
