Its computer form tho you can't take an iphone to an egnineering school and be like this is where all my technical drawings will be. You need a tablet as i have a fujitsu that for some reason has the mouse pad freeze up way too often. Not that i would buy apple but whatevs.

Now on to the topic at hand, this is quite an interesting idea by Apple. I don't think it's a smart idea though. Basically this is to replace your laptop from the way I see it. Touchscreen laptops have been around since 2008 thanks to HP. All Apple has done is make one without the keyboard(some have touchscreen keyboards anyways) and throw apps at it. The only redeeming quality is it's price point. $499. And that's why it will sell.

Really though, I'm kind of ambiguous towards the idea. My biggest beef is that just like ALL keyboard-less devices the idea of trying to create a text document sounds like an exercise in frustration.

If someone would make a product like this with a little stand it can sit on so it?ll act like a monitor along with a wireless mouse-n-keyboard that the device will autosync up with when nearby, then I?d be all over the idea like a hobo on a ham sandwich.

Get ready for a tsunami of iPad threads, people. I don't understand what the fuss is all about. It's just a big picture frame with touchscreen technology.
I was expecting something more processor wise. My understanding is that it just has a 1Ghz processor, and probably still doesn't support flash. I was expecting to see something that didn't look like the iPod Touch. Maybe a few more buttons, or to find out it was running OS/X in some stripped down version.
Guess I am going to find a good netbook for the house instead of this. 2x the speed, 4x the storage, same price or lower... It's good to buy PC... =)

Because Macs are nothing more than a gilded cage that will always be inferior to PCs. I will concede that they don't freeze as much, but that fact is directly proportional to the amount of stuff they CAN'T do. I have a Droid, and while I'm aware Droid run a Linux OS, it is not in fact made by Apple, thus(among other things) making it superior. Besides, Droid WILL have flash support by the first third of this year.
