Why are kids such brats

I dont like kids i do like the kids that have manners and are all round a nice person but so far i haven't met any 3 different times ive been insulted because of what i was wearing at the time.

heres the scenario i am walking down a street theres a parked care with 2 kids and a mum [i assume] and i was wearing a godfather t shirt and cargo's and the kid from inside the care yells at him and says "those clothes make you look %$#^#$ gay bro' and then the mum goes 'Shawn' yelling at the kid i turn around the 2 kids giving me the finger and the mum giving me a look.

2nd time walking home from a Fast food Chain where i work 2 kids ride past on a bike and go '$%#@ KFC kid' didn't say anything but he rode off

3rd time i was serving someone and the kids that came in talked with every single word being a swear or a menu item.

So i ask you why are kids such brats now days and why do they intend to swear with every word and what should we do about it?

And i hear all the time about bully's killing people with there words.

PS Im only 17 but the kids are just rude and sorry if my english is bad

Kids swear because we don't discipline them the way parents used to. My parents were pretty determined to stop me from swearing. The other part of it is that swearing in the house (between spouses) is becoming more common.

Compound the effects of these reasons by the factor of 8 because a kid will encounter at least 8 other kids who swear and act out. Behaviour from school becomes behaviour everywhere.

That is what I think about this anyway.

That's very unfortunate. I'm 14 but still have manners, and I hope you didn't encounter anyone my age with a bad attitude, although you almost certainly did.

I think this is just because of bad parenting. Bad home lives and encouraged swearing can lead to this. I only swear rarely, hardly ever to offend, and sometimes to add emphasis to my speech, but never like your circumstances.

I never swore at or around adults when I was a kid. Even now I respect people and only curse when I am around friends that don't mind.

As a child when ever I acted out I was reprimanded immediately, even in a store. I would get a swift slap to the bum. Plus media today is pretty messed up, and parents let their children watch or do what ever they want. Kids today are growing up with no guide lines or morals and it's all the parents fault.

Because kids are having kids nowadays. All the slutty, dumb girls from my school had children at about 14/15 despite not being mature enough or financially stable.
It's down to a mix of bad parenting and kids getting in the wrong crowd. They're the sort of kids who, if you look into their eyes, you can see prison and drugs unless they buck their ideas up.
Sooo, ignore them, laugh because you have a job and they don't and let nature take it's course with them.

With each year, kids get shorter and much more mouthy. I guess its kinda hard not to pick it up when you go to high school, thats where I picked it up, but I have heard 8 year olds speaking like that. Crikey.

More confidence, more complacency. Whatever has caused this, I blame. Most children just aren't timid any more, and this leads to the, uhm, free expression of their immaturity.

What's more likely is that the kids aren't getting any worse. Every generation has a habit of thinking the generation after them are some kind of hell spawn. In reality, the percentage of 'bad' kids probably hasn't gotten any greater, nor has the behaviour of them gotten any worse, or at least not dramatically so.

Exacerbating this is increased media exposure to these sorts of acts, so it appears as though the problem is getting worse, when really it's just being represented more.

Of course, naturally this is all my opinion based off of things I've heard before, there are no objective truths here.

"zafg" means nothing, but if it became established among the mass majority as meaning something rude, it could become a swear.


As for why kids are like this is because parent's have gotten lazy. I don't and never will support violence upon a child, just to teach a lesson that could be accomplished in more humane ways. I would hope we'd be more civilised.

But alot of parents don't make the effort.

I have to heavily disagree with this. I was punished as a kid when I got out of line. The end result was I started to loathe my parent's existence, wether being that I refused to accept them or feeling betrayed/wronged. To this day, I've developed emotional issues, a violent nature and still hold a grudge against my father for what he did, even though it's not that I don't love him... but a part of me is still full of rage for everytime I was hurt.

That's not the kid's fault. It's shitty parenting. Most modern parenting consists of buying your kids' love and then shoving your values down their throat.

I blame the parents as well but the kids are the one doing it shouldn't we judge the kids more so then the parents?

What kids need is a Bogeyman to keep them in check. Some nuggets I've heard over the years include...

"If you swear, the Bogeyman will cut your tongue out."
"If you bully that lad, the Bogeyman will put you in his sack and kidnap you."
"Don't eat chocolate given out by strangers - that's how the Bogeyman gets you in the day."

I guess a little fear is a good thing, children these days are missing that.
