Y'know, ever since it was confirmed that EA removed the Taliban out of MOH, it seems that all I have heard is complaining from various people. The way I see it, it doesn't matter one bit.

So what? They changed the name of a multiplayer faction? That does not effect the gameplay one bit, it will still be the same game, it's just that when you are playing multiplayer, a different name appear at the side of the screen.

I can understand that some parents that lost their child to war might get a little upset (mostly because the media blew this situation out of proportion), but it doesn't effect the game really now, does it?

Just thinking: "Why do people seem to be so angry and upset by this..."

It says Coalition and Opfor now instead of Taliban. It's a little frustrating because you can feel just from the small taste of character the class selection screen gives you in the beta that they are trying to make the terrorists people instead of monsters, and using a generic term like "opposing force" seems pretty dismissive.

People will complain about anything. Im pretty sure that if EA or any other publisher announced something along the lines "Hey we are giving 500$ to anyone that sends us an e-mail, no strings attached!" you would see posts on forums with people whining "OMG WHY ONLY 500$?" or "IT RUINS EVERYTHANG!!!1" eventually "Man this sucks! Now i'll like have to go and exchange those dollars into my local currency, f!@#k you!"

I hear the general problem is it's trying to be like MW2 but isn't better than that, but it feels like Bad Company 2 but isn't enough like that, so it's not catching fans of either side.

That's what I gather, I can't be bothered to play it I've got enough to play already .

THAT is what people are bitching about?
/facepalm

I can't say I'm surprised people are making a big deal out of something pointless. It seems to be the latest trend here in the U.S.
Like bitching about including the Taliban in a game?

Because people like to be upset about things. Honestly, I couldn't care less. I'll admit that I would have more respect for EA if they hadn't changed the name, but it really doesn't change anything.

Finally someone with my opinion.

It's a name. It doesn't mean they have no spine and they're letting down the gaming industry and it's the end of everything as they're all spineless. They want maximum success for their company. It's EA for Christ's sake, they are a huge business, they want as much money as they can.

The game is the same, and they've offended less people and avoided potential court cases, they where pretty much being polite by changing it.

Because by oppressively censoring people's free speaking right to pretend to be the Taliban on the internet, this act of fascist communism has caused the sky to fall...

[small]or is it just an acorn?[/small]

I don't get it either.

Personally I thought having the Taliban in the first place was a bad idea.
Why exactly? That was one thing the game had going for it; it passed a "boundary" that seems to be taboo in today's society. Is it not okay for a game to have a message rather than just being mindless?

The removal of the Taliban team was a cop out to avoid a loss of sales from stores on army bases, but with this backlash, it may be counterproductive.

Either way, I see the removal of the Taliban team to be a step into emotional shelter, stupid and cowardly.

Because it gives everyone who complained about it the idea that game companies are just going to cave into the retarded demands of the incredibly thick masses.

People are mad because they think that EA sold out, basically.

It's not about the gameplay; in general, gamers are against Jack Thompson and his position on getting Medal of Honor banned. Therefore, they're upset that EA gave in and decided to remove the Taliban from the game.

Personally, I'm not furious, but I am disappointed. I really didn't see an issue with having the Taliban in the game.

What message? It was the name of a multiplayer faction. Leaving it as Taliban wouldn't have been some profound message, or even a tiny one. it was just a name that offended people, so the company changed it.

This? This is a mole hill.

Not a mountain.

Whether they left it the same or changed it there would be no greater message. It wouldn't have been a massive leap forward.

It's seven letter word.

If they had utterly and completely gutted the campaign mode then maybe you would have a point. If that is what they did then yeah, I'll shut up and back down. However all they changed from what i have read is what the second team in its multiplayer would be called.
