It's stimulation for the baby.
I can't believe you didn't think of that.

Babies make great emergency rations.
OT: People like their children. They enjoy coming home to their kids and spending time with them. They don't come home from working all week to dump them off on some other family and go have fun with themselves and their older kids.
I'm not saying people don't love their BABIES (children can understand) or want to spend time with them, but when you wait in line in the hot sun, folk out heavy cash to get it (not counting what everything costs) to stare at NOTHING...

...very young children is fine, babies makes no sense. You can do what you said in many places, you wouldn't bring them to the cinema.

Why bring anything to a zoo?
I hate zoos, they smell, are filled with obese tourists, everything is overpriced and the animals are more annoying to me than endearing.

But then I suppose I'm kind of evil.
While I disagree, good response haha!

Same with bringing anyone under 14-16 to a really expensive vacation. What the hell do they need it for? They will just forget the whole thing anyway.
Normally, I'd get a bit mad at an age related dig. However, I have to agree.

I'm 15, and my recent holidays... I just didn't appreciate them.

And as you say: "They will just forget the whole thing anyway"... I do. I really do.
And it saddens me that I don't actually enjoy the holiday, considering my parents have paid good money to take me there.

Therefore, I'm staying out of the next holiday. For their sake.

Its really just an experiance for the baby. True they dont really know what is going on but it is for their minds they experiance people talking and group enviroments. They are less inclined to shy away from situations with groups later on in life. Everything with babies is learning and experiancing. They go to the outlet because they dont know what it is. Their minds dont grasp anything they just know whether they are happy or not.

The zoo is usually a pretty lax place to bring a kid instead of say the fair or carnival. There usually are not too many people and plus they may potentially notice the animals. Although most likely in a babies or young childs case they would probably just get as much enjoyment as staring at a light I know I did.

Maybe people need to just make sure their baby is around? I mean what, just leave them in the car for the whole trip?
SURE!! Just make sure you crack the window :p

But yeah why bring babies anywhere.

To feed the dingos?

Or, if the child is old enough to understand people-speak [ie: any articulate human language], you can always bring them to the gorilla exhibit and tell them that, that ape is their true birth parent/s and you are dropping them [the child] off

I must point out I'm from the UK where there are fewer zoos so they're more expensive and crowded, on par with the activity of those locations except around the enclosures.

My little cousins love the Zoo. They love seeing the animals and the like. Hell they'd prefer it was an Army Base. But they still love seeing all the Tigers and the like.

The worst are the 6-9 year olds. Who are spoilt so much, they complain and moan like a cat in heat if they dont see the animal. Just annoys me to hell and back. I just want to smash their head through some glass.

Babies are dumb as hell
That made me laugh.

On topic, babies don't belong anywhere, except at home and in a daycare, or on your plate with a side of french fries.
