Why can't I join a Battlefield 3 online game?

Time after time I find myself unable to join an online game of Battlefield 3. Especially when I'm in a online party. It's insanely annoying and I'm getting incredibly angry. Does EA in general suck or are there any solutions that I'm unaware of?

You should get some error message back, that would help narrow what the cause of the problem is.

Also depends on whether you're playing on PC or console. Also whether you are using a router or not. Might have to forward some ports or something.
