Why did you pick your avatar?

I don't know if there was another thread like this, and quite frankly, I don't care.

The point is, I thought it might be nice if we took a while to think about why we chose the avatars that we have.
Sure, superficial reasons had something to do with it, but try to look at yourself more deeply than that.

When answering this thread, try to think about why you chose your current avatar to represent you in the forums.

Think about what you wanted this avatar to say about you.

Or whatever else you can think of that drove you to choose your current avatar.

I'll start.
I chose the great Protoss hero Tassadar from Starcraft because he was one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite games.
I liked him because whenever he opened his mouth (figuratively anyway), I always got the impression that beneath his determination and iron will, there was a wary intelligence that frequently asked itself why it was doing what it was doing, and thus generated an internal conflict in Tassadar that manifested itself towards the end of the Protoss campaign.

That iron will and determination represents what I can be like if I have to be. And his nature to question everything, including himself, is also my nature.

But I also picked this representation of him as my avatar because it can convey so many emotions at the same time that it cannot convey others.
My avatar, depending on what I want to say, can help show my determination, my anger, my frustration with others, and my sorrow. But this avatar also cannot convey my happiness. And if you've been to my other "serious" thread in the "off-topic discussion" section, then you know that I have little to be happy about right now. But I am of course open to the possibility of that changing. So perhaps if things get better I might change my avatar, perhaps not. I don't know yet.

There, I have told you why I chose my avatar. Now I ask you, my fellow Escapists:
Why did you choose your avatars?

Mr. Nasty is a pretty iconic character. He's got dark humor (See the Manhunt player manual) and he looks pretty awesome.
I chose this avatar because it reflects a side of me: Sarcastic, Uncaring, and Mysterious (Me on a bad day.)

Shari is basically the internet stand-in for yours truly, and I've never been too fond of using someone else's work to represent myself. So I go through all the hard work of making my own avatars any time that I want a change, just to that any compliments I get for how it turns out mean even more to me than they would if I had just found a cool picture somewhere.

It's the symbol that I drew up myself to represent the vanguard army [http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Vanguard#Vanguard:_The_Term] I have designed for many years now.

A while back, I started a fairly popular thread about different video game parasites. A bunch of us started talking about Metroid Fusion, which got me in the mood to play the game, so I decided to put good ol' Samus on there as my avatar for now.

I may eventually put my namesake there, though...

I didn't really choose this avatar.
I chose my username, then made an avatar to suit it.
Should have named myself "Iron Chef Ninja" to cease confusion about a certain base metal though.

Wait...you're asking me to be deep and introspective?
...I'll try.
Well, I think my avatar accurately displays my feelings of absolute disregard for all forms of life by presenting an extreme example of my attitude. This "nuking the whales" easily conveys a simple message to anyone who views it. That message is either "this man has no regard for the sanctity of life," or "this man is a fucking nutjob." I don't know which is more common.
And, if you look deep inside yourself, I think everyone will find a little voice, buried under semantics, which is shouting to be heard: fuck the world!
It is up to you to decide if you are going to listen or not.

Or maybe I just thought it was funny.
