Personally I feel that consoles like the DS and the Wii with their mix of casual games and such bridge the gap to people who wouldn't otherwise be into gaming. Remember back in the early 90's on how the Gameboy was played by any age of any profession?
But this OP is right; games and their gamers are getting a Lil' too demanding for hardcore as of late. I look back and find that lately it's becoming a lot harder for newcomers gamers (I refuse to use the word "noob" in any sense) to be introduced to the more serious consoles such as the PS3 and the 360, because of how alto of gamers (not all) can be a Lil' unforgiving to those who don't perform "as well" in their eyes, especially during co-op games and such

Perhaps if your favourite game was added with motion control functionality as an option, you might enjoy it further, adding a bit more depth and immersion maybe? Just a thought
