The solution? Strip away free will. People instinctively act like douche bags to one another when they know there's no consequence behind their actions. The internet is a perfect avenue to see this happening. That's why people flame one another on message boards. The wors that will happen to them is being banned from the site. I think that humans just have a self destructive nature towards each other and anything else in a 50 mile radius.

If you want to really know the answer then you'll probably have to get a PhD in neurobiology and psychology.

I think it comes from the primal part of the human nature from back when we were small, helpless and nearly everything was a potential threat and therefore that part of the brain still exists, you know eliminate all potential threats and keep yourself safe. The main difference though is that the odds are now much further in our favour as we have the weapons that all other animals don't so as a result our paranoid all consuming history causes us to be needlessly destructive without even realising it.
This could also be a reason we can never have peace, because in our nature we fear each other.

people act as they do because they have an instinc for survival and to always benefit from its actions. an action that seems evil in other eyes (maybe even your own) may benefit you and you are therefor "forced" to comitt this action because you have no matter what you think an unstopable desire to always act in your best interest. but if you comitt a good action towards others for the same reason (benefit) and find out that other people do like this too you might see that this is benefitial for both of you and you will maybe change your mind about some things and act more like this in the future because you see that you also do well for others as humans are not individualists. other humans on your "team" will halp you achieve your goals and you might help them achievve theirs.

conclusion: we act to satisfy our own desire to feel good in one way or another.

Why do dogs behave as they do? Why do lions behave as they do? Same for humans. We do what we do simple because we're human, we just are.

Mostly how they are brought up as children and then the kind of society they live in.

Human nature is a silly term anyway that doesn't really mean anything.

The human brain is like the human body: all of it serves some purpose towards living as a hunter-gatherer in a savannah, and giving your genes the best shot at being passed on.
Uh, sorry.

Humans are inherently stupid, scared, and destructive. a human left alone will naturally turn out this way. they must be taught to act well and behave and treasure things around them.

We are individuals.

And in the core of our being we're always looking out for #1.

That's where most of the world's problems originate from.

Religious answer: cause god said they could act however the hell they want, as long as it amuses him.

Scientific answer: Its probably what our survival instinct has turned into, greed and douche-baggery.

People have a funny habit of thinking they are better than animals. I says its funny because it is not true. People use the term "human nature" when expressing why they back stab, cheat, fight, etc. etc. But that isn't true. It's just nature. Animals fight for dominance and survival, you can even witness these traits in ivy, a plant that literally chokes the life out of other plants as it grows forth like a zombie virus.

We have grown such a grand view of ourselves that we have become cocky and confident. We think our actions are something unique to our own. We have grown complacent in our magnificence and rather arrogant, lording over all living creation like a mass of omnipotent super beings. And those of us that don't try to act like they care just to feel more magnificent and self important.

We have reached a time were we don't have to fight and kill to show our dominance, so we try to do it in more "colorful ways". Look at people that call them selves educated. Hell, look at me. Here i am rambling about all of humanities flaws like i have it figured out, while ironically just shaping the hole that i will no doubt be cast into. Because yes i am one of these arrogant humans, and i am haute enough to point it out and ask you all to bask in the radiance of my intellects glory.

We are a race of show offs, of self important twats. The only thing i despise more than that fact, is the people that try to act like they are not but lecture on and on about how we need to help the (blank) like they do.

There is a term, Idolon Tribus
An idolon (or eidolon) tribus is a form of prejudice, by which someone inappropriately extends norms or tenets that apply to the natural constitution of his species to the rank of universal truths. Idola tribus of the human race would be what is usually termed anthropomorphism, not only in the narrower sense of ascribing human-like features to non-human entities ? such as God, animals or natural forces ?, but also when certain traits of human reasoning or emotional constitution are uncritically deemed to pertain to the object being analyzed.
that i can very well fall victim to. Or maybe the term itself is ignorant in the fact that they do not acknowledge the similarities of Humanity and "savage" animals. The only difference is we try to hide our animalistic side. But if you truly think we evolved beyond our animalistic nature, look at politics, read a tabloid, watch the UFC for christ sake. We tear each other apart in new ways every day. We are one race of sadists who try to make others look worse so we can look better in comparison.
