I can understand trolls. They're hate based. But griefing is funny sometimes. Some of it can be hate based, but for the most part it's just another way to play the game, albiet not the best way... When people team kill me I try to join them and mess up the game, I don't rage like I used to. Looking back, raging against griefers is stupid. It's a game. It's ment for fun. It's not ment to be taken seriously. So your stats get messed up slightly. Big deal. What I don't get is why do people take video games so seriously? (Why so serious?)
And no. Do not troll. You can go against my argument, but try not to be scathing.

Edit: Copied from a response of mine to a quote: "I think one of the problems with this thread is that I included all griefers together. There are different levels of griefing, such as team killing, screwing around and not doing anything, or hacking. Some of these are dangerous and shouldn't be done at all (hacking), some should be done sparingly and are unimaginative (team killing), and some are ok and can make the game fun if you're tired of the same thing (where you use the same gun over and over again)."
I only do the stuff that's not going to really offend anyone, such as not taking the game seriously anymore if we're getting seriously pwned and have no possible way of winning.

Because griefers are irritating.
Because that sometimes takes away the fun from the other people, they don't like it.
It's not that hard to understand.

I taunt greifers and trolls to no end.

Especially trolls because some don't have any sense of sarcasm. Really easy.

Let's see...do you play games to have fun, or do you play them to be witness to someone else's jackassery?
If you answered B, then I'm afraid you are the weakest link, and a security officer will be around shortly. Please do not resist, as they are authorized to use lethal force.

When griefers are not too irritating, and are doing it for the lulz,i join them. People mainly hate them when they are irritating.

Becasue I don't join a match so that within thirty seconds I can be shot in the back of the head by some little tit who thinks its really fucking funny to make me wait out until I can respawn again.

Well, if it's funny...
Yes, an excess of griefing is irritating, but people take games way too seriously.

I agree, Like theres no point of hacking on a game it just messes it up for other people!
I didn't say hacking. Hacking, game pirates, and virus writers should be kicked off the internet completely...somehow.

What this guy just said
Griefers are people who mess around in games and don't do what the main objective is.

I believe it's a team-killer, at least that's what it sounds like in the OP

OT: It can be sometimes funny to do... with friends. If you're goin around killing your own team even after they already told you to stop (And quite possibly to die in a hole) then you're just being annoying.

I wanna ask you, how is trolling "hate-based"? When I troll(It's not often, mind you) I'm laughing my ass off, not hating.
You do realize that trolling isn't allowed here, right?

That is why. And just because it is funny to the griefer what about the griefee? Did they not pay thier 60 bucks for the priviledge to play? To have fun? If we are talking about that article on WOW griefing a few months back that actually enhanced the game then that is the rare occasion that griefing is OK. To bad the other 99% of griefing is crap like L4D's blocking the stairs or teamkilling.

Errr...

The point of a griefer is to render the fun side of a game obsolete by doing whatever possible to ensure other people can't get on and play.

How is that not a reason to dislike them?

I guess it depends, really. If you're in on the joke, it's fun. If you're the butt of it, it's not. Simple.
