Why Do Some Games Exist For Certain Consoles¿?

i was wondering if anyone can explain
because i know this is whining but i hate when a game is not on my console ( will not mention to start debates ) so if anyone knows the answer please comment
is it for :
-money
-favoritisim
-sponsor
-contracts
-for people to argue about on forums
-other (please mention)

i think that it is because the company who make the console offer lots of money for exclusivity. either that or the game maker felt like being a prick.
