Have you heard of fanboys?

If no, educate yourself by searching Google for the term "Fanboys". But they'll grow out of it eventually, I mean look at this site as an example of growing out of console flamewars.

...Wait...

My friend, this question has been asked since for over 20 years.

The answer is because people, gamers especially, love to ***** about even the most inconsequential things.

Your grammar...

Well, I generaly have the same issue. People claim Xbox is better than PS3, PS3 is better than Xbox, etc, etc.

I think it's mostly due to massive fanboy-ism. I have both consoles and each have their ups and downs, but I prefer to stick with PS3, mainly for the exclusives, free online and I also grew up with Playstation as a household name.

There really is no answer. People have their opinions and they are entitled to them.

Playstation has the superior hardware and free online service.

Xbox has the better selection of games and frankly the controller is just so much easier to use.

I own both consoles and I can see good and bad points in equal measure. I can't say I hate anyone on either side.

Those Nintendo fanboys however... well, they're another story altogether... [small]I kid, I kid![/small]

Well, to put it simply; The best are represented by the worst. I don't hate PS3 owners, but when I think of them, I think of the worst examples which are, the people I meet in real life who are pro-sony everything and freak out at everything under the sun.

I actually got in a fight with a best-buy employee the other day because I was telling my mother why I boycott Sony, and the best buy employee wouldn't stand for it and jumped into my conversation out of nowhere claiming how all these other companies do the exact same things sony does. (which is bullshit)

To answer this, you have to go back to the rivalry between Sega and Nintendo back in the 80's and 90's. They were so good at attacking each other that they were able to enlist their own fans as a sort of army to use against each other. It also didn't hurt that at the time, the average gamer was still a kid, and usually only had one system or the other -- which in itself leads to playground disputes over who has the better toy.

Fast forward to today, and the 8 and 16 bit console wars have ingrained themselves so strongly into the psyche of gamers, that they carry on the fight with today's systems -- and it's more public than ever before, because of widespread access to the internet.

I think it's because they enjoy the reactions that they get. Then the other person gets all upset and starts cursing and it goes back and forth.

The only difference I can see between the two consoles is the online security issues, sure the PS3 has better specs and the 360 has better 3rd party support. The thing is, the PSN has been hacked twice this year and I haven't heard anything about Xbox Live being hacked. You pay for Xbox Live though, so you expect it to be more secure.

Their mums are only willing to buy one, so they pick one and convince themselves that everyone who owns the other one is scum. It helps them think they made the right choice.

Some boys and girls are pathetic and lack a life so they insult people who don't share their opinion because it makes you look cool.
I spose it's justifying your choice of console. I personally don't give a shit and hate it when I see either party ***** about the console. I don't know why it matters, it's a game at the end of a day. Pick a console and shut up.

Well, at least they can get together and unify in hating Wii-owners like me. Their loss...

Personally, I think it's just silly now to argue over such outdated tech.

A few years ago it's understandable, but you can get both on the cheap now, so what's the problem, because i'm not seeing it.

Because even the tiniest, inconsequential detail about a person can define their ego and if you insult anything about certain people or proclaim that they were anything less than plucked directly from the loins of God himself, then you have struck them a grave insult.

In layman's terms: (Everybody say it with me now) People are dicks.

I don't generally like using genitalia to denote some kind of behavior, but this video is appropriate to the entire internet and the hobbies people talk about on it, if not especially video games.
It's a lesson we, on the internet, could honestly all use learning. In fact, hating almost anything is a waste of time. If you spend time on something you don't like, all you're going to end up doing is promoting and propagating it somehow. The best way to not support and propagate something you don't like, is to ignore it as best you can and get back to using your precious, short life on enjoying and propagating things you do like.

And the world would be a lot more friendly place if we all did just that. Because we all, who are blessed to be able to afford to have free time instead of starving to death and struggling to live, would all be able to properly focus on using that privilege to the fullest and enjoy the things we like, and talk among other people who like those things and be happy. Instead of wasting our gift of being in a first world country and getting irate and hateful about things all of the time. We're all blessed, first world citizens who are very lucky. There's no reason for us to often be acting this way.

Especially, over things like video games which are a real privilege. Even more so various video game platforms. When they are all nice and all have something for pretty much everybody. For instance, the XBOX, the new kid on the block, has been hated by some fans of Japanese gaming for being Western and being only for Western gamers. And heck, I've probably got a little bit of favor of Asian games myself, just a little at least. But that whole console war was silly. The Microsoft XBOX may be a newbie Western console, but there are plenty, plenty of Japanese titles for that system. And many of them exclusives. And so the PlayStation 3 fans using that line of argument came off as ridiculous. And this is coming from me, a person who was called having "a retarded prejudice against non-Japanese games" for merely not wanting to play the Dues Ex games. More like a prejudice against manliness and grimdark, more like. But that's beside the point. The mere fact is there's no good reason to be hateful towards any of the gaming platforms. As they all have many ups and downs. Even if you think one is better than the other, the absolute lengths of hate people have spread for certain consoles is utterly insane. Utterly, downright insane. I can't believe people do it.
