Why do you post?

Despite social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and despite the difficulty of being noticed and recognized in crowded community like this one, there are still many active users here that continue to post. So my question to you is, what keeps you coming back to post and what do you personally get out of it?

Because I enjoy the discussion. But overall, as long as we do post, does it matter?

Discussion and lack of a car/bike, also all my friends are nice but aren't exactly up for intellectual discussion.

I say different things on Facebook than I do on the Escapist. Most of my Facebook friends aren't gamers (and I'm not close to the guys that are, I'm actually terrified of male people o.o), and sometimes I think I'm more comfortable spewing pretentious philosophy on The Escapist than I am on FB.

And Twitter is 40% random blather. No point.

It's fun to talk about stuff; especially games with fellow gamers. Also I get some good news I otherwise wouldn't find out. I don't think many people are on here trying to get "internet famous".

I assumed people were on forums because they liked to do the same.

Why do people talk to their friends? Why do people try to interact in anyway? I'd make up some stuff about learning and shearing opinions but I'd rather not waste my time. I simply post because I'm driven to be sociable, it's in my nature.

I like to think that I add something to the discussion and the community as a whole. I mean, I'm not so egotistical as to think that the forum would not go on without me, but I like to think that my presence adds a little something that otherwise wouldn't be there.
